“Texas is one of many southern states that is under the post-bellum voter rights act that allows the feds to interfere with their elections.”

Extended for an additional 25 years by Jorge Arbusto and a Republican congress.

With friends like this, who needs enemies?

“Don’t they have to show ID to get their welfare benefits?”

Sure, this isn’t about legitimate voters showing their ID, its about the vote fraud programs run by the RATS and the unions that would be upset by the ID requirement. The minorities who complain that this is a burden for them are just going along so that their “benefactors” stay in power and keep the checks coming in!

The ugly truth is that the federal government wants both illegal aliens here, and for fraudulent voting to be easy and painless. That’s the simple truth. The stuff about “disenfranchisement” is a lie, refuted by study after study. So it’s pretty pointless to wring our hands and try to use logic and reason to explain these court decisions, when Occam’s razor once again has it all tied up into a neat little bundle.

Talk about egg on their faces:

Federal court strikes down Texas redistricting plans
Reuters – 16 mins ago.. .

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A U.S. federal court ruled on Tuesday that a controversial Texas redistricting map discriminates against black and Hispanic voters, effectively killing the map before it could take effect for the November 6 presidential election

The U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia issued the ruling. The state maps, passed by the Republican-dominated Texas legislature, redrew districts in a way that reduced the influence of minority voters, the court ruled.

(This story is corrected to change voter ID ruling to district maps ruling)

Even far-left liberal kook Jimmie Carter sees a need for voter ID laws.

"The electoral system cannot inspire public confidence if no safeguards exist to deter or detect fraud or to confirm the identity of voters." That was the conclusion of the bipartisan Commission on Federal Election Reform, headed by former president Jimmy Carter and former secretary of State James Baker. The commission recommended stronger photo-identification requirements at the polls. Its logic was straightforward and convincing: Americans must show photo identification for all kinds of day-to-day activities, such as cashing checks or entering government buildings. The many photo ID requirements we encounter in our daily lives are legitimate, effective security measures. Securing the ballot box is just as important.

Opposing view: In Texas, evidence of voter fraud abounds

Federal court ruled on Tuesday that a controversial Texas voter identification law discriminates against black and Hispanic voters...

So the court is saying, putting the illegal voter issue aside, essentially, that blacks and Hispanics are too stupid to get a government ID.

Looks like a 3 judge opinion, mostly unanimous (except for some points). (Collyer, Griffith and Howell) 2 appointees of GW Bush and 1 of Obama’s. One of GW appointees (Collyer) was NLRB General Counsel. Didn't read opinion yet (is at D.C. Fed Dist Court website under “new cases” on right, mid screen.) Need to read tonight. Must be missing something...

How does it discriminate against Hispanics, even the illegal ones? Don’t they go to Fiesta grocery stores when they need to procure an ID card if someone in the DPS office won’t sell them a legitimate card for $$$?

The story has been corrected to be about “redistricting maps” instead of “Voter ID”.

Is Neil Young still dead?
