I’ve put this press release from the Todd Akin campaign in Front Page News since I think the names of the pastors deserve to get immediate attention, and the story may end up waiting a day until reporters get around to covering it in a version to which I can link. The title is original.

If it needs to go somewhere else (extended news, religion forum, etc), please accept my apologies.

You’ve heard of dead cat bounce.

This is just the dead cat without the bounce.

Rev. John Stormer Author “None Dare Call it Treason” Troy

Wow! A great book that came out when Goldwater ran in 1964.

120, only slightly more than the number of votes this egotistical bass-turd will get!

I do feel sorry for the guy . . . to paraphrase what I’ve seen: “politics is hard, but it’s harder if you’re stupid.”

Ping.

There are some major Missouri names on this list of regional or local significance. Most are Baptists with a few Presbyterian, Lutheran, Assemblies of God, and other names, plus a number of people from Concerned Women for America and other conservative women's organizations.

It looks like Akin is now totally invested in this and is not going to back down. After the RNC chairman's “not one penny” comment, it looks like we're going to have a fight between politically active social issues conservatives — sometimes called “Tea-vangelicals” — and the Republican leadership.

I don't see any way to avoid this war now.

And no, I'm not happy and I'm not looking forward to this fight.

I want to see the list of 120 independents who support him.

I think the guy’s heart was in the right place, so I suppose I could work up some sorrow for him, but he has been in politics long enough to avoid this type of situation. I agree, it is harder if you’re stupid. Decent call...

Yep. I knew of Stormer from secular conservative politics long before I moved to Missouri. I did not realize he was still actively writing until the local Christian school where my niece attends started handing out copies of his more recent books.

There is some serious firepower on this list. I think the Republican National Committee picked a fight that is not going to help the Republican Party.

It’s not only secular Tea Party people who can get angry at establishment Republicans. This fight is not going to end nicely.

I'm not the drummer.

Personally I would have been happy with a quiet exit by Akin and a solid social issues conservative being named to fill his spot. That is what the Akin voters wanted, that is what won by a six-point margin, and I think it still could have been arranged quietly a few days ago.

With the RNC Chairman's “not one penny” comment today and the issuance of this list, I no longer think a quiet solution is possible.

And no, I am not happy about that. Priebus' comment and Akin's press release are a declaration of war, and I do not believe that will be good for the Republican Party.

It may, however, be necessary.

Great. That and a buck will get him a cup of coffee, but will still cost a Senate seat.

Akin is evil, but, everyone on this thread still supports the man who said this:

“I feel that all people should be able to participate in the Boy Scouts regardless of their sexual orientation.”
- Mitt Romney, 1994, former Boy Scouts of America National Executive Board member

8/7/2012
Mitt Romney stands by a 1994 statement that the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) should admit homosexuals to the organization, as members or adult supervisors, according to a campaign spokesperson.

In order for the New World Order to get a solid seating in America, our Christian based government must allow Sharia Law and Islam into our Court system. In order for Agenda 21 to get full financial support, the local, state and federal legislators must pretend they are not Christians.

With all these dang Christians running around screaming and waving that durn Bible, Agenda 21 is going to be more difficult than what the guys in DC thought. Guys like Akins and his supporters are doing nothing but causing trouble for the establishment Republicans and their buddies, the Democrats.

Why do you say he’s evil? What did he say that leads you make such a statement?

MSNBC people who attack Palin’s children, they are evil.

Got news for you, I am from the ‘60s. I remember this thinking that he spoke of from the ‘70s. It was believed by a lot of people in the medical community.

Akin’s only problem is that he didn’t keep up with technology. An honest mistake.

But evil?
