It is hard in the midst of battle for us to see, but we are winning. We ought to win the presidential election this year, and we must do everything in our power to make that happen, but the defeat of the left today is sure. The only way to lose this war is for us to quit, and we are not doing that.
Begin with the basics. Americans, overwhelmingly, are conservative. The latest Battleground Poll shows what every other Battleground Poll has shown for the last decade: Americans, by a huge majority, choose to call themselves "conservative," even when they can choose "moderate" or "unsure" as well as "liberal." Look at May 2012, or the twenty consecutive Battleground Poll reports dating back more than ten years in which conservatives have always been an overwhelming majority.
The Gallup Poll findings are just as stark. The last poll in February 2012 showed that conservatives outnumber liberals in every state except Massachusetts, and the one in February 2011 showed that conservatives outnumbered liberals in every single state. The one in August 2010 showed that conservatives outnumbered liberals in every state except Rhode Island; in February 2010, again, conservatives outnumbered liberals in every single state. And yet again, back in August 2009, conservatives outnumbered liberals in every single state.

“call themselves conservatives” and being one is debatable.
Well, here’s another question — do they understand what the term “conservative” means? Or is it something that just sounds good?
I’m still a Palinista Conservative.
yes but how many are “legitimate Conservatives” ???
If ‘most people’ were conservative, the campaign polls campaign would look quite different.
compared to Chris Matthews or Sarah Palin. It’s a relative label. It says so on the back of your “conservative membership card”.
Very conservative and proud of it! Screw the damn left!
Do not understimate the degree of vacuity that serves as a moral compass for many people who, by accident of birth, may claim the territory of the United States as the scene of their nativity.
It is perfectly acceptable for a person to call themselves anything they want, but it is not OK to believe that in claiming a label, they become the final authority on what that label is supposed to mean.
There are many false conservatives, who, beneath a sometimes very thin veneer of claiming to be for limited government, representation of minority views, and fiscally conservative policies, then wander off into some fever swamp of social issues that would make a Goth cringe.
Likewise, there any number of phoney liberals, who in the name of compassion, demand total purity of thought in matters dealing with the distribution of goods and services, and absolute certainty of equality of outcome, who only manage to create a power class so stratified and apart from the greater number of others who happen to occupy the same geographic region as themselves, the divide cannot be bridged except by some kind of insurrection, with lots and lots of blood on the floor.
In neither of these views of the world, is there any room for compromise and exercise of judicious application of pragmatic solutions. “My way or the highway” is not a recent invention, but it has certainly been raised to an art form.
Unfortunately, the highway to elsewhere is not always conveniently located.
I am a BILL OF RIGHTS CONSERVATIVE... (read the constitution and the Bill of Rights and that is what I am...)
And yet, somehow, almost miraculously, the election results over the last decade have been virtual ties.
Can you say "voter fraud", boys and girls? I knew you could. /Mr. Rogers impression /sarcasm
I predict that the Democommies will pervert the election system in an attempt to stuff the ballot boxes with voting dead people, pets and anyone who has moved since the last election and whose name is still on the rolls.
