And Cruz was well rewarded for his efforts. He pretty much brought the house down. If any voters across the country were getting their first look at Cruz yesterday, they got an eyeful. And it was probably hard to come away from it unimpressed.
Good evening. I have the honor of standing before you this evening for one reason, because thousands upon thousands of grassroots activists stood united, not for a candidate, but for the sake of restoring liberty. Accountability, quite rightly, rests firmly in the hands of We the People.
Since 2010, something extraordinary has been happening, something that has dumbfounded the chattering class.
It began here in Florida in 2010. In Utah, Kentucky, Pennsylvania.
Was repeated this summer in Indiana. Nebraska. Wisconsin.
And this past month, in the Lone Star State, Texas.
What is happening all across America is a Great Awakening.
A response to career politicians in both parties whove gotten us into this mess.
This national movement is fueled by what unites us: a love of liberty, a belief in the unlimited potential of free men and women.
I want to tell you a love story. Its the story of all of us, a love story of freedom.
Its the story of our Founding Fathers, who fought and bled for freedom and then crafted the most miraculous political document ever conceived, our Constitution. The Framers understood that our rights come, not from monarchs, but from God-and that those rights are secure only when government power is restrained.
This love story is the story of the brave Texans in the City of Gonzales. When General Santa Anna demanded that they give up their guns and the cannon that guarded the city, they responded with the immortal cry Come and take it.

Forget Christie this is the speech of the night
Ted Cruz speech:
Ann Romney speech:
These are the best speeches that I’ve seen so far.
Nikki Haley also did well.
bookmark. Thanks for the links.
His speech was good.
I thought it was interesting how he weaved in the story of the town of Gonzales. Most non-Texans only know about the Alamo, and are not aware of the “Come and Take It” cannon story.
Well said Mr. Cruz, very well said.
I loved Cruz! Our Next Senator! Go Cruz.
He made me proud.
he did one great speech and with out the aid of a TELEPROMTER....he certainly impressed this American..I feel sure his dad was busting at the seams with Pride..he is Blessed to still enjoy the companionship of a parent...
may his future ‘SHINE BRIGHT’
Thanks to PBS & their ‘analysis of their ‘board of experts’, I missed Janine Turner & Haley.
I only get one station that is carrying the convention-—PBS.
It appeared that Cruz went through the entire speech with no notes, no teleprompter - correct?
Powerful speech. Christie had their attention, but in this video I see lots of people walking around, empty seats (?), and a lack of the proper enthusiasm. I don’t think they realized who they were listening to.
And no podium.
Now that’s an unusual talent.
The skill needed to argue 9 cases before SCOTUS.
I live in the Tampa market. Without cable or satellite I thought I was RNCless until I discovered the ‘sub’ channels.
Here channel 10 took their wx and radar channel and fed the convention on what is called 10.2
You might look in your market through all the sub channels if you use an antenna. You might even have to go into the TVs channel selection to enable something you disabled in the past.
My 2 cents worth for free today.
Loved Nikki Haley.
John Kasich - very good.
Think we’re overlooking Sher Valenzuela, running for Lt. Gov. of Delaware.
Follow her - - -
‘And no podium.’
Kind of reminded me of a good preacher, pacing about.
Not too much, tho - can be annoying.
I was watching the edge of the stage, hoping Cruz was, too!
