Have to agree with Savage. Christie’s speech was more about him (he used ‘I’ over 30 times). He finally got on message in the later portion.

Kasich was one of the best. Before him, most of the speakers were sort of lackluster. He got the crowd into it. Most speakers who followed were good.

Tonight, most of the speakers are the old hats. I doubt I tune in before the Ryan hour.

They're coming to take me away - fantastic! Been so long since I've heard that.

So glad he's saying it like it is. Christie was one huge disappointment, esp. as keynote speaker.

We haven’t heard Savage in Chicago for some time - so who is Mikey voting for this time?? Is he going with Romney/Ryan or playing the “not a dime’s worth of difference” card again???

Christie was a disappointment, I expected more fire and brimstone from him. I wonder if he’s considering a run in 2016? Speaking of 2016 - has anyone seen that movie yet?

I really think he does care. He’s been right and on the frontline for a long time. I understand why he’s got the hurt feelings when (before England banned him) the Autism brewhaha was swirling and no one came to his defense in the msm talk radio. Then England and Cair and no one came to his defense. Savage said then that they would come for the rest of them and he was right. (the “slut” brewhaha for Rush)

*chili, cheese, and onions on the hat.

Christie apparently doesn't listen to Savage. He had a chance to add if his Sicilian mother made sauce or gravy.

Ann Romney's speech was more uplifting.

Savage has a habit of putting down other talkshow hosts so it’s really no surprise that no one came to his defense, although wait there were a couple IIRC Jerry Doyle and Billy Cunningham and I think Laura Ingraham defended him. As for Fluke and Rush, he walked into that, it was his own damn fault IMO.

I didn't watch all the speeches but I do recall a few people saying "mr president". I wish Christie had given HUSSEIN a tongue lashing, I was looking forward to it. Ann Romney did mention something about being an American, I loved it! There's a transcript on line if you missed her speech. Here's her closing remark:

"I can't tell you what will happen over the next four years. But I can only stand here tonight as a wife and a mother and a grandmother, an American, and make you this solemn commitment. This man will not fail.

You can read the whole speech here

They should have followed Reagan's precedent: "Mr. Carter".

When they say 'Mr. President' or 'President Obama', they are giving him status.

Some of those hosts are also syndicated like Savage on TRN, so coming to his defense is akin to that last caller telling Savage to stop beating up other family members.

If Savage wants to switch to positive he can talk about Berns Steak House in Tampa. It's known worldwide and has a cellar with 10,000 wines with at least 1 to Savage's liking.

I’ve seen some stations schedules say words like “may be preempted by high school football.”

Then again, other stations carry the game on terrestrial radio for locals and the Web stream stays on the regular programming.

Doc just said something that women don’t look to other women.

There’s some degree of truth in that. Some women have told me they really don’t like working for another woman. They much prefer having a man as a boss.

RE: IIRC Jerry Doyle and Billy Cunningham and I think Laura Ingraham defended him.

(In case anyone is interest.. otherwise scroll or remember: no cussing just contumely.) :)

I recall Ms Ingraham saying nice things about Savage when Savage refused to even mention her name, instead calling her that "trans-genger with a cross." But I believe that they are on very good terms now.

The "You are a great American" was picked up from Cunningham by Hannity and is oft-heard on his show. Levin may say it from time-to-time.

Cunningham has declared that he is a fan of Savage.. but a few years ago Cunningham misinterpreted one of Savage's rants as being against him (Cunningham).

That was the time the caller told Savage that he (Savage) was a great American. Savage exploded. He screamed at the caller to never, never call his show again and then started in on Hannity and Levin without mentioning names. Savage went on to question Levin's ability as a lawyer.. again without mentioning names.

Cunningham (an attorney) thought Savage was maligning him. Cunningham played Savage's screaming rant in lieu of the regularly opening music (for a couple Sundays I believe). Cunningham could not understand why Savage would say such things about him.

I did hear Levin defend Savage vis-a-vis England. A caller surprised Levin with a question about it. Levin did not react in any fashion. He explained that the banning was wrong. He continued the conversation normally and after the call he did say something about a wiener.

Savage's comments while listening to Boehner describe his day-to-day life in the family bar are almost exactly what I say when Savage tells daily about his day-to-day life at lunch, what and how he prepared for his dinner. . . .

Some like that stuff about Savage's personal life. Of course.

I do remember in the last year, Levin and Savage kind of going at it. Levin (who i listen to also on his podcast), was speaking about the middle name of Savage’s boy (the rockstar drink maker). I believe Levin mentioned the name. I looked it up and darn if it wasn’t the middle name. “goldencloud”

RE: Levin and Savage kind of going at it

I actually heard Levin defend Savage against England's banning as I described above.

But their differences can get ugly. I've heard Levin bitterly say that he could not wait to confront Savage and punch him.

Savage of course issues some pretty ugly comments about Levin and his friends Hannity and Limbaugh.

I remember the old days of Crosby, Hope, Benny, Berle and others who traded barbs for fun.

They should have followed Reagan's precedent: "Mr. Carter".

I remember when W was president, newscasters on the left refused to call him President Bush, they referred to him as Mr. Bush while at the same time referring to Clinton as President Clinton.

Ryan hit almost all of Savage’s gripes yesterday in his speech-if he comes on tonight and was not impressed with it, he would pretty much be deliberately trying to undermine this campaign or just a cuckoo clock
