Now all that’s left is a presidency adrift, surviving on slogans that already seem tired, grasping at a moment that has already passed, like a ship trying to sail on yesterday’s wind.

I liked this one..

Loved his speech! Really took obama to task

Yea, me to, after Conde speech, I thought Ryan might have a tough time, but he did great, particularly liked the line about yesterday’s wind
you can’t sail the ship of state on yesterday’s wind.

I liked that one but also like the one where he referenced living in a country where everything is free except you.

Great speech by Ryan. I saw him at a meet and greet last year. He gave a great talk then too. Articulate, personable, humerous and knows the issues. He’s probably hoarse from campaigning.

I could just could eat Paul Ryan up with a small spoon!!!

Something tells me that if the Code Pinkos had come even closer, that Ryan would have just very cooly laughed them off in that casual, young-guy way he does, and they would have looked even more like the morons they are.

Ryan is BOLD — in a way that even many libs cannot deny. and how refreshing — to have a VP candidate that no one can MOCK, no one can claim is “stoopid,” or any other such thing. This is a VP they FEAR.

MSNBC freakazoids were going ballistic afterwards ...trying to duke it out w/ Governor Walker. They were clearly suffering emotional distress tonight after Ryan’s performance.

He seemed a bit nervous in the beginning. As I predicted, he would begin to relax into it the MOMENT he said his first number. If you watch closely, you will see that micro moment. I think it would be helpful if he knew this. Once he is talking any sort of numbers, he visibly becomes comfortable. By the way, I have noticed the exact opposite about Obama. The moment he starts having to spew any number, he gets anxiety attacks. This is why he uttered the famous “57” states. Not at all comfortable with numbers.

Great speech. There were so many memorable lines I can’t remember all of them.
But, I loved the ones about zer0’s ship sailing on yesterday’s wind, everything is free but you, a 20 something college graduate living in his childhood bedroom looking at faded Obama posters, and an Ipod w/AC DC to Zeppelin.
While we are all praising the speech and the guy who gave it, maybe a little credit should be given to the guy who chose him.
Unlike Juan, Mitt is in this to win, not to cast any aspersions on Sarah, of course. That was Juan’s only good move.
I also thought Secretary Rice and Governor Martinez did well. All in all, a very, very bad night for zer0.

I'm so tired of the repetitive, tiresome mantra by some conservatives that Romney "can't win if he can't connect with the middle class."

Well, I'm middle class and he connects with me. I move in middle class circles as well as working class circles....and he connects with them.

I'm reminded of that old rascal, FDR, a member of the 1% who easily connected with the middle and lower classes and still does to this day. We all know plenty of old geezer Dems and Palm Beach-type condo-commando harridans who are STILL pulling the lever for FDR when they go to vote.

FDR always had that aristocratic bearing, that aristocratic accent......and his background was wealth, privilege and an education at snooty Eastern schools. No matter if he sat in front of an everyday fireplace to deliver his homilys, he still always came across as a prime example of the ruling class.

But he still "connected" with the voters.

Romney has no aristocratic airs, speaks normally and from all accounts is a friendly, self-effacing guy who mixes with any and all folks he meets or works with.....and they like him very much.

So, when it's parroted incessantly that Romney HAS TO CONNECT WITH THE MIDDLE CLASS I just get tired of it....it's some kind of hopeful self-fulfilling prophecy attempt that makes no sense whatsoever and has no basis in reality.

I heard Romney give one helluva barn burner the night of the California primary in 2008. He’ll get the job done.

I kept thinking after each speaker-”That speech is gonna be a hard act to follow” but each speaker gave my heart that great patriotic throb I haven't had since Reagan. Paul Ryan's was the thrill of the night!! So far, for me, tonight was the BEST night of the convention.

FDR came from a wealthy elite family, but he was an American.

He had American money and he kept it in AMERICAN banks.

It is UNAMERICAN to have money in Cayman Island bank accounts.

I do not move in middle class circles as you do. I move in circles of the former middle class who are scuffling to survive without becoming full fledged members of the social welfare state.

NO POLITICIAN connects with these folk.

They have given up on the eParties and any political party sympathies that they might have are Tea Party not eParty.
