WASHINGTON – The Pentagon's top lawyer has informed the former Navy SEAL who authored a forthcoming book describing details of the raid that killed Usama bin Laden that he violated agreements to not divulge military secrets and that as a result the Pentagon is considering taking legal action against him.
The general counsel of the Defense Department, Jeh Johnson, wrote in a letter transmitted to the author on Thursday that he had signed two nondisclosure agreements with the Navy in 2007 that obliged him to "never divulge" classified information. Johnson said that after reviewing a copy of the book, "No Easy Day," the Pentagon concluded that the author is in "material breach and violation" of the agreements.
Johnson said the department is considering pursuing against him "all remedies legally available to us."

Delivering the keynote address for the Pentagon’s Lesbian, Gay, Bi-Sexual, and Transgender Pride Month headline event on Tuesday, Department of Defense general counsel Jeh Johnson described how surprisingly smoothly the U.S. military has accepted openly gay members.
Johnson noted that it was the first time in American military history that a gay pride event took place in the Pentagon, where the auditorium held a standing-room-only crowd.
His talk discussed details of how the government last September ended the “Don’t Ask/Don’t Tell” policy that had been in place since President Bill Clinton’s administration.
Johnson, along with Army General Carter Ham, co-chaired the Pentagon working group in 2010 that drafted the critical report leading to repeal of DA/DT. Their work included extensive polling and face-to-face interviews with thousands of soldiers.
Their report concluded that the risk repeal of DA/DT posed to overall military effectiveness would be low.
But he said the actual impact has been even lower than they thought. One participant called it more of a “speed bump” than an impact.
Johnson told the assembled crowd, “Three years ago it would have been hard for any of us to believe that in 2012, a gay man or woman in the armed forces could be honest about their sexual orientation, that the Don’t Ask/Don’t Tell law would be gone, and that the process of repeal would go even more smoothly than we predicted it would in our report.”
Would your opinion be different if you knew that he was a Clinton appointee as counsel for the Air Force, politically active in the 2008 campaign, and appointed to his current position by baby cakes Barry, and supervises prosecution of our warriors?
On a scale of one to ten how might you rate his integrity. Do you think he just might have had some influence in the filing of charges against SEALS in the field?
Jeh might consider the trophy taking business can involve transactions in both directions.
Or against the President who gave them access to military secrets?
I hope he gets the same sentence Obama did when he spilled secrets to make himself look good.

Legally, the President can declassify any information he wants to in any manner he wants to.
People without declassification authority, like this Ex-SEAL, cannot and are thus subject to prosecution.
People may not like it, but that's the simple truth.
The SEAL writer’s cause is just if it helps to harm our REAL enemy, Barrack Hussein Obama. We can only diffuse the threat from Islamo-fascists if we first defeat the much greater threat from within-Obama.
Given the current DOJ in place, I gotta wonder if any threats of prosecution would be happening if the Seal were a minority? Me thinks not. He’s Caucasian so therefore, he is fair game to this particular DOJ.

Read that he had a legal advisor go through the book before publishing to make sure there was nothing in it that would compromise the military.
I think this is a public display of power by the administration because his true story reveals that the white house version was a lie.
Why do so many here instantly overreact to what the PENTAGON or the ADMINISTRATION say? Doesn’t the administration pick the guys in the pentagon? Isn’t that why we have such STUPID rules of engagement?
It's high time that Special Forces on a circle jerk mission fight back at being expendable. I would rather the Executive political animals in the hierarchy be sacrificed than the actual grunts who do the wet work. The Executives are playing around with this freaking war, this cluster f* is not WWII or the Revolutionary War you tool. This 10 year war is purely political, screw the suits.

Yeah, discovery should be a hoot.
I consider anyone violating their agreement traitors.
There are vets walking around today who have not and will never violate the agreements they signed 40, 50, 60 years ago.
I don't care if its money, political belief or what ever you are no different than a turncoat and a traitor if you have signed the agreement..
I’ll wait for the facts in the case. The government lies. Especially this one.
