Transcript of Clint Eastwood speech at RNC

The following is a transcript of actor Clint Eastwood's speech at the Republican National Convention on Aug. 30, 2012.

EASTWOOD: Thank you very much. Thank you. Thank you very much. Save a little for Mitt.

(APPLAUSE)

I know what you are thinking. You are thinking, what's a movie tradesman doing out here? You know they are all left wingers out there, left of Lenin. At least that is what people think. That is not really the case. There are a lot of conservative people, a lot of moderate people, Republicans, Democrats, in Hollywood. It is just that the conservative people by the nature of the word itself play closer to the vest.

They do not go around hot dogging it.

(APPLAUSE)

So -- but they are there, believe me, they are there. I just think, in fact, some of them around town, I saw John Voigt, a lot of people around.

(APPLAUSE)

John's here, an academy award winner. A terrific guy...

Well I sure liked it. Eastwood ad-libbed for ten minutes, no script, no notes, no teleprompter. What is he now, 80?

I liked it too.

I flipped over to PMSNBC and Rachel Madcow looked like she had been kicked in her testicles.

She was gagging and frothing at the mouth. Hehe..

He reminded me of Jimmy Stewart when he did comedy (if you’re old enough to remember him). Especially the way he stammered for comedic effect.

I thought it was scary. There were some funny lines, but he was what an old boss of mine called a “loose cannon”. He looked frail and unorganized/disoriented. Like a guy at a wedding who stands up to give some thoughts, off the cuff, about the groom.

At least it was brief and people will probably remember the funny parts.

I thought Clint was great. Others are saying the teleprompter quit working and he had to ad-lib his speech.

One of my favorite lines was that a lot of people in Hollywood are “left of Lennin”.

Not bad for an 82 year old.

I thought the empty chair bit was a pretty obvious reference to Stewart's Harvey.

I thought he was terrific. He still has a twinkle in his eye. Unfortunately I had on NBC because the audio wasn't working on FoxNews. Angria Mitchell was weird. She pronounced the speech ‘strange. He was talking to an empty chair?’. I find her strange. I suspect most people who were watching NBC know their bias. I turned it off immediately and went to another TV where the audio on FoxNews was working.

Eastwood was great. He’s 82 years old now and that is exactly how he talks now. To hell with anyone that makes fun of him.

I have to be honest...my stomach turned when I saw and heard his schistick(sp?). The convention was rolling find and we didn't need this distraction. Are we this desparate to have a big name hollywood star that we didn't care how he would come across? Cause I'll be honest, when I heard Clint was the mystery actor I leaped for joy only to have been brought down from the cloud. This is ALL the media will talk about tomorrow...WHAT A horror idea to bring him on. Love him but he was kinda of weird and the chair didn't help any. OH BOY! Let's pray the folk saw the humor and comedy in it.

He was awesome. The left have Alec Baldwin, we got Clint. Enough said.

For an 82 year old man he looked damn good. I enjoyed his speech, he’s not a politician, he didn’t go looking at a teleprompter to tell him what to say, he spoke from the heart, and cracked some jokes, it was entertaining, and he also made a lot of valid points. I hope I look that good at 82 years young

I thought he was great. But I was getting nervous there for a second. I was imagining him not getting off the stage and/or saying something that would ruin the night.

But he ended it great. “We own this country!”

The libtards are already calling it racists

The fact the GOP even bothered to hold a convention and oppose the Dear Leader is racist.

Let me tell you something. I’m a member of a seniors organization. I’m one of the youngest at almost 69 (on Sept. 13). I can’t count how many of us are “off” (by your standards) when we speak, but what we say can be taken to the bank. You don’t want to listen, fine. But we have a lot to say, and Eastwood said a lot tonight. You simply have to have an adult ear to listen.
