Full text of former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney’s remarks to the Republican National Convention on Aug. 30 in Tampa , as prepared for delivery.

Mr. Chairman, delegates. I accept your nomination for President of the United States of America.

I do so with humility, deeply moved by the trust you have placed in me. It is a great honor. It is an even greater responsibility.

Tonight I am asking you to join me to walk together to a better future. By my side, I have chosen a man with a big heart from a small town. He represents the best of America, a man who will always make us proud – my friend and America’s next Vice President, Paul Ryan.

Plain and simple, Mitt nailed it. He was a little uninspiring in the debates at times but he took care of that tonight...especially the last half.

You're right. I didn't hear him touch on it. Then again, why would he when Obama has given them a free pass?

Romney will be fine. He'll produce effective solutions. Let's just get the guy elected and get a majority in the senate. Then we can all breathe easier.

The speech was mainly good sounding platitudes. “American deserves more” stuff. He did mention “sanctity of life”, so tonight he was for that but check back tomorrow.

Well written speech. Romney will win, God help our country. If Romney is half as good as the men I work with (All Mormons, all God fearing honorable men) then we may be alright. But like Obama there’s something I just don’t trust about this man. Barry has always been pure evil. I hope Mittens is successful in his intentions otherwise we are ssssssoooooooooooo screwed.

Mittens' speech was a JOKE.

It was the typical claptrap one might expect from a self-absorbed babyboomer.

I know something about self-absorbed babyboomers because I am one and I have been spoiled and for this I am not proud.

I don't give a twit about his daddy putting no stupid rose by his mothers's bedside.

I don't give a twit about his PERFECT wife or his PERFECT kids.

Times are bad.

Times were bad in 1980 just as they are bad today in 2012 when a real conservative named Ronald Reagan accepted the nomination for president.

Ronald Reagan LOVED Nancy Reagan every bit as much as he Mittens loved his wife. Ronald Reagan loved his kids just as much as Mittens loves his PERFECT kids although his kids were neither submissive nor perfect. Whether Ronald Reagan worshiped his daddy like Mittens worshiped his daddy is quite another question.

When Ronald Reagan accepted the GOP nomination for the Presidency of these United States, it was not PERSONAL, it was not about him, he was humbled and honored by the opportunity to serve his country.

Ronald Reagan made NO mention of his family because he had a vision greater than the vision one sees when one looks in the mirror.

Ronald Reagan mentioned Lincoln, Thomas Paine, and one his earliest heroes who was Franklin Delano Roosevelt but there was NO mention of his successes nor his resume.

If any Freeper would like to read the speech of the GREATEST CONSERVATIVE PRESIDENT to ever hold Our Republic's highest office then they need to go to this address.

Now hold your horses, son. I watched Reagan in two terms as a governor before he ran for president.

Whatever else we can say about Reagan, his children were always problematic (to say the least).

These things happen with great men sometimes, but it's not a reason to jump on the Romneys.

We've got to get over this clone Reagan thing. Real people are real individuals, and that means they're different than anyone else.

Yeah, I can tell. Romney isn't your idea of the PERFECT candidate, so you are throwing a temper tantrum like a self=absorbed spoiled brat.

There are no PERFECT candidates. Even Reagan wasn't PERFECT, although he was the greatest President of the 20th Century. Romney has many flaws, but he's unquestionably better than the Liberal Messiah.

I ain't looking for the perfect candidate.

I be looking for an HONEST POPULIST.

I take Rudy Giuliani over Mittens any day of the week, but the problem is that Rudy is not an elitist CFR NWO globalist nor does he pass the ideological purity tests of social conservatives.

A supporter of Populism [follows] a political philosophy urging social and political system change that favors "the people" over "the elites", or favors the common people over the rich and wealthy business owners. [Source: Wikipedia]

So what makes Romney not a Populist? Why is Populism better than Conservativism?

Why is Populism better than Conservativism?

You ask a qualitative question. Populism is not better than conservatism, it is simply more inclusive.

The greatness of Ronald Reagan was that he was always a populist and ideology was secondary to his populism.

Conservatism is an ideology and just like theology it can be hijacked by political elites just as theology can be hijacked by the theological elites of the institutional church.

So what makes Romney not a Populist?

The reason that Reagan sided with FDR more than likely had to do with the banks and the bankers.

There may not have been a bailout of the banks by the Gubmint in the Depression, but there were a lot of little guys called depositors they lost all they had on accunt of the perfidy of the banks. There was no FDIC before the crash.

Romney like all the elitists of both parties favored bailing out the banks for their greed and incompetence even though it was little more than a decade after the S&L bailout which was supposed to be the "never again" bailout.

Whether Reagan favored the Gubmint bailout of S&L's in the late eighties and early nineties and the Wall Street bailouts in 2008 cannot be definitively answered, but given his early background, it would have been doubtful. Mittens on the other hand was on board for the Wall Street bailouts as was his VP Paul Ryan although the current elitist pariah Todd Akin voted against the bailouts.

you can’t think at all

You are quite correct, it takes no thought to connect dots nor does it take any thought to connect one elitist snob with his successor.
