BASED ON ALL AVAILABLE DATA A TSUNAMI MAY HAVE BEEN GENERATED BY THIS EARTHQUAKE THAT COULD BE DESTRUCTIVE ON COASTAL AREAS EVEN FAR FROM THE EPICENTER. AN INVESTIGATION IS UNDERWAY TO DETERMINE IF THERE IS A TSUNAMI THREAT TO HAWAII.

Was chatting on yahoo with a friend in Cabadbaran when the quake hit. She went off line for a few minutes. Came back to report a strong quake. I asked if she was okay.. She said “NO, talk to you tomorrow.” Nothing more. She lost her connection.

Only about 10 to 20 km deep..strong possibility for tsunami We cant contact anybody there as of 20 minutes ago..suspect the tower is either down or power out.

5 days ago a M6.6 - 140km WNW of Tobelo, Indonesia.

Aug, 18th a M6.3 - 53km SSE of Palu, Indonesia.

Aug 14th a M7.7 - 158km ENE of Poronaysk, Russia.

The earthquake was located about 60 miles east of the Visayas region of the Philippines.
Samar, Leyte, Dingat Island, Borongan City, Maydolong, Guiuan, and other towns and cities would be in a direct path of a Tsunami or effected by the earthquake.
