Bedbugs moving in to some North Texas apartments

DALLAS - Bedbugs live on the blood of mammals. They eat while you sleep. And they're dining on more North Texas apartment dwellers every year.

"Sometimes I can't even get to bed at night," said Skyler Wells of the Park Timbers Apartments in Lewisville, who's had bedbugs in his apartment twice in the last four months. "I'm thinking they're crawling on me. I'm scratching myself. I'm taking three showers a night, because I'm thinking I'm gonna wash 'em all off me."

Chris McGinn of City of Lewisville Code Compliance Department said bedbugs weren't even on the city's radar three years ago. Now they're so numerous, the city has created a special category just for bed bug complaints.

But the insects are not isolated to Lewisville.

They were all over San Antonio and Austin hotels last year. Guess they’re moving north with their hosts.

Someone needs to invent a robot to irradiate apartments, hotel rooms and hospital wards. That would kill the unwanted critters.

They are spreading everywhere and are almost impossible to get rid of. Get them in one apartment and every apartment will get them.

They are extremely east to get rid of. A few dustings of DDT and no more bed bugs. Wait a minute....

I’ve seen the bedbugs in the Section 8 housing on the San Antonio News stations..yuck.

Apparently, when someone with an infestation tosses their belongings into the dumpster, someone else comes along, and picks up the infested stuff, and carries it into another apartment.

There is a site, bedbug registry dot com, IIRC that tracks bedbug reports..makes me itchy thinking about it.

This is self-inflicted. The EPA has banned all the pesticides that are effective in eliminating them. I am surprised there is no black market.

***Bedbugs live on the blood of mammals. They eat while you sleep. ***

And that is when you kill them! Or at least you used to!;-D

DDT applied as a 5-percent oil-based spray
or 10-percent powder was so effective that all
the bed bugs in a room could eventually be
eliminated by thoroughly treating the bed
and nowhere else, since the bugs eventually
had to crawl onto the bed to feed. In practical
use, other locations in the room were also
thoroughly treated to hasten eradication.
One application normally did the job — in
contrast to the multiple treatments required
previously — and what we are experiencing
again today.

We were in a Comfort Inn in Nashville (run by furriners) and when we got home, there was a bedbug in one of our bags. (We decided to leave their cockroaches there.) We shoved everything back into the van ASAP and sprayed the bathroom where Mrs. RWA opened the bag.

Next day, we left it out in the sun on a 95 degree day and ran the heater for several hours. The temp went up to 175. Shut the heater off and hours later it was still over 160. Kept it closed until the next day. Nothing was damaged, but I can't see any living thing surviving that.

So far, no bedbugs. I'm so happy Mrs. RWA did a careful exam of the bags. I wouldn't have. She's a champ.

Just one of the hazards of living in a third world country..Obama’s America.
Traveling in SE Asia in the 70’s we used to carry DDT powder to sprinkle in the bed.

An elderly lady told me there was something called Flit that she used to travel with when she her husband and two little girls went to Mexico. It was in a spray can. she said it was very effective so it must have had DDT in it.

Some of the 4-star NYC hotels had bedbug and lice infestations a few years ago, and tourism went into the dumper for weeks and months. It’s still happening at top-line places:

That's because they hire illegals to change the sheets.

No, it's caused by wealthy tourists who are in the ruling class of third world hell holes.
