We are close and it's been looking more and more like it all the time.
Regardless of who wins in November, my sense is we are seeing the beginning of a sort of changing of the guard, where the old, tired ways, names and brands are simply discarded, the same way we leave things behind when new technologies or better ways of doing things come along and the old ways are abandoned.
This is true for Big Labor and its unions, the media and its many disciples and, with any luck since skill is usually absent, this will be especially true for the symbiotic political parasite that feeds on all of it, the progressive movement worldwide.
That title is music to my ears, like the band's practicing the dirge before the parade. Hallelujah! Let's dance! There's a Renaissance a comin'!
Lots of great suggestions to cut these porkulus socialists.
Music to read this thread by...(”what they need’s a damn good whacking”) BUMP!

The EPA and NLRB both need to be eliminated, as well.
I’ll believe it when I see it on April 15th.
Republicans going to refund all the money workers paid into “govt. handouts” like social security and medicare all their working lives? Didn’t think so. The politicians will consider all the money paid into those programs by workers as belonging to the politicians.
the Republican dogs are egg sucking hounds too
they will say anything to get elected then it will back to business as usual, they may even repal Obamacare but they will quickly replace it with Romneycare [/pragmatic cynicism]
The GOP’s promises are pretty meaningless
If it happened it would be, of course, a miracle from Heaven rivaling the miracle of the founding of our great country.
I have said for decades that most of what the federal government spends money on is in violation of the constitution. The notion that the “commerce clause” and the “general welfare” clause override everything else in the document is simply imbecilic. I don’t care how many law degrees a judge has it takes an idiot to believe that.
Except that the "commerce clause", the "general health and welfare clause" and "good and plenty clause" have been so twisted out of shape such that the politicians believe those clauses were written to give the federal government practically unlimited power.
Please ~ping~ me to articles relating to the 10th Amendment/States Rights so I can engage the pinger.
If you want on or off the ping list just say the word.

(We support the review and examination of all federal agencies to eliminate wasteful spending, operational inefficiencies, or abuse of power to determine whether they are performing functions that are better performed by the States, the platform reads. These functions, as appropriate, should be returned to the States in accordance with the Tenth Amendment of the United States Constitution.
And:I wish the Republican Platform was binding.
Why? Because the GOP, for all intents and purposes, has just proposed to eliminate the Department of Education, the Department of Housing and Urban Development, the Department of Energy, the Department of Agriculture, the Department of Transportation, the Department of Health and Human Services, along with a host of other government programs, agencies, and departments.)
If they would do what they pomise, then the national debt would decrease rapidly and these worthoess agencies and the liberals who hurt America would have to find a real job.
Please God let this be true!
American love their PORK too much (and that includes most Republicans/conservatives). As long as they can bribe with their votes the elected representative to Congress to bring home the pork to their State or district, we will have humongous Federal government.
Not only are specified powers constitutional but all the means to implement those specified powers (unless expressly forbidden by or contrary to the spirit of the constitution) are constitutional as well.
The most profound discussion of constitutionality is in Hamilton’s essay on the constitutionality of the National Bank. He was not only the greatest lawyer in the nation but on the Constitutional Convention and the principle author of the Federalist papers which explain what the constitution means.
Anyone concerned with the constitution should closely study this essay.
Yeah, I saw the asterisk. BUMP for the thread, the thought, the ideas, the future, our children/grandchildren, freedom.

Let’s hope the GOP nads up and actually does some true reduction.
That great Republican Nixon gave us the EPA and OSHA.
Liberal idiot.
They’ll never do it. They have no intention of doing it. They don’t have cojones to do it. But it’ll be fun to listen to the Dems all agogue over it.
