So far most of the talk radio today has been very positive about Clint and Mitt.

Now for the rest of the story!

(Have to wonder if Savage wanted to be talking to the empty chair.)

Savage doesn’t know anything about Rubio.

For one, Rubio is a staunch supporter of comprehensive immigration reform, aka amnesty for illegals.

He says he really liked Eastwood, Rubio and Romney.

He also says somebody inside told him that Romney is listening to him. I just wish that didn’t have Harry Reid-style overtones.

I was driving at the time so I heard Eastwood first on radio. He sounded like he was stumbling.

However, that was on purpose. When you see it, it’s clear it was all part of a really well-crafted hard-hitting satire.

I want to see it again.

Savage is upset about what Mrs. Romney said about Eastwood's getting the prime time? Clint Eastwood As Tokyo Rose? Director Made Up Scenes in 'Iwo Jima' Documentary

"Tokyo Rose would be more of an American patriot than Clint Eastwood in his new propaganda flick."

I never saw the movie.. it sounds like savage is right though based upon the description of the movie contents.

"I got Romney to drop everything and go visit the hurricane victims . . . Romney listened to my show and changed the tone of the convention . . . ."

Personally I find Savage's incessant gasconade (talk in a self-admiring way, says my trusty Windows 3.1 American Heritage) -- I recall a insufferable bore in grade, middle, and high school (we called him Champ).

Yes they all do it and it's borrring. Savage is the worst since Arthur Godfrey (though I cannot cite specifics about Godfrey except it's just a general impression that has been with me since those days). Maybe it's part how he fired Julius Larosa, on air, after he sang; Godfrey told him "That was your swan song. Get lost" or something like that. You see, Godfrey ordered his staff to take dance lessons on their own time or something like it and Larosa refused.

There’ve also been some birther-like issues surrounding Rubio. It’s something along the lines of he was born in a U.S. hospital, yet his parents weren’t U.S. citizens until a few years later.

With all the birther issues around Obama, that would have been a distraction. Safer to go with someone whose roots are unquestionable. Plus Ryan’s been at this about 14 years, Rubio is just getting started.

I am surprised that he thinks Rubio should have been the VP pick. I remember way back when Rubio was first floated as a possible VP pick. Savage had nothing but contempt and disdain for him.

So now Mike has a man crush on Rubio? Oh please.

A man crush on Eastwood and Romney too, apparently.

When I heard Romney speak last night and I heard certain lines, I thought Savage would for sure crucify him today on those (e.g., when Romney said, "I wanted President Obama to succeed.")

I think somebody close to Savage either at TRN or 1 of his 8 friends he's going boating with on Sunday told him, "Hey Mike, if you're the only conservative host going so tough on Romney, you're going to look bad."

No fill-in host for Savage on Monday and

Levin just promoted the "great" best-of show for his Monday time slot.. these guys can't get a fill-in host from among hundreds of local hosts who would love to do a national show -- free!

The Islamists in Afghanistan are giving our guys the day off? Nice of them. They respect us.

Everybody in the Greatest Generation always took holidays off during the Big One -- whole divisions returned home on three-day holiday weekends.

Damn -- all these hosts agree that we face existential threats and they want to just skip over things just because it's a holidays? They earned the time off.. but where's the fill in hosts?

I am SO annoyed that Savage gave no credit to Ryan calling all the speeches yesterday great and all the others this week useless-

Is he only in love with Romney now because someone told him Romney’s people listen to what he says?

Ya I think so

Thinking also Savage like Romney and Rubio because they are attractive and not nerdy like ryan (I think Ryan is sort of attractive sort of)

Is he that superficial? um ya

I just wrote something similar-maybe because I read it in your post earlier.
looks like hearing romney maybe listens to his advice puffed him up to bursting
Savage wants his affections returned and acknowledged or else he can get very very nasty (remember Bachmann? and romney never asking him again to dinner?)

I think that anyone who listens to Savage today will likely get the same impression as we have expressed independently over and over.

Either Savage was so new and refreshing compared to the five decades of radio I was used to back then and he has not changed or.. he's changed and he is not the same Savage that I think I remember from the 1990s. Regardless..

from the very beginning Savage was the first to demonstrate that no longer did conservatives have to kowtow and slink away trying to 'splain that they were not all those evil things that liberals were screaming at them. Conservatives could scream back louder and with overwhelming (from the liberals' view) nastiness -- which is actually in most cases the truth.

Thank goodness other modern talk show hosts copied Savage there -- even if the others had a natural disposition to take 'em on Savage showed that they did not have to constrain themselves any longer.

I was not aware of Joe Pyne's national radio show but I do remember his short-lived TV show and as far as I am concerned both Savage and Levin "copied" Pyne. Actually, the three are very similar.

Pyne too was persecuted.. right here in the U.S.

The liberals accused the emerging modern conservative movement of causing JFK to be assassinated and Pyne was forced off the air.. he had several hundred stations at the time. Some continued for awhile to broadcast recording of old shows in defiance.

Holy smokes, must mean he's off next week, lol! Someone must have said something to him about all his absences. It was getting ridiculous there for awhile.

I left out an important factor why I doubt that Dr. Savage is solely responsible for some changes that the Romney campaign made.. yes I remember that he credited his listeners in the claim also.

I listen to talk radio, visit FR, search the 'Net for various reasons, and scan Drudge all day and night. No TV. No life. Similar criticisms of Romney's campaign exist elsewhere.

Others also claim sole influence over societal issues.

Acknowledgements & Disclaimer. (Required when addressing criticism to Drs. Savage and Levin): I am a nobody. Virtually no education. No accomplishments of any sort.. not even close. Never will be. And I would not only not last a second as a talk show host.. I would not even be permitted to try. Wot? I can't do that to myself.
