On Wednesday, hosts at MSNBC informed America that the words "golf" and "Chicago" are racist, especially if they are used while speaking of Barack Obama. Newsbusters' Rusty Weiss reported early Thursday morning that while covering the GOP convention, Chris Matthews "came to the conclusion that reminding people of the President's roots in Chicago politics is racist." The Washington Post's Eugene Robinson set the tone of the exchange. "It's all part of this Barack Obama as 'other' sort of blanket campaign that has been waged by the Republican Party for some time now.

Well Chicago is well known for its big-city machine politics as is evidenced by the last three Mayors of Chicago that were sent to prison (not to mention the mayor of East Chicago).
And to expand the on the Chicago culture of corruption we could mention that in Illinois at least 79 elected officials have been convicted of wrongdoing since 1972.

Well Chicago is a major city in the United States and one could safely say that there are a lot of black people in every major city in the United States. So what is your point? If I say Boston is that also racist? Hey there are a lot of Irish there besides blacks and a lot of people have problems with the Irish (there Catholic ya know)!
The real obvious point being made has nothing to do with race. The point is that Obama is the product of Chicago’s political machine. The Chicago political machine has a long history of political palm greasing going back well of a century.
Obama’s administration has a lot of obvious political palm greasing going on. Need I even say Solindra?
If speaking the truth is now to be labeled “Racist” then there is no hope for Democracy in the United States because the truth will no longer be honored or respected.

This is why we need a comedy show as good and popular as John Stewart. The best way to combat this type of ridiculousness is to make fun of it relentlessly. Could you imagine the kind of “word association” game one could do on such a show to turn some of the most innocent words into a racist code word? The more indirect the association, the funnier the bit. It would be really funny to go 6 words away from the word at hand before hitting on the “racist” overtone, wouldn’t it?
