Team Romney forced ‘undemocratic rules’ to disenfranchise pro-life Republicans, Rush says
Life Site News ^ | 8/31/2012 | Ben Johnson

TAMPA, August 31, 2012, (LifeSiteNews.com) – While political observers watched Rick Santorum, Paul Ryan, and Marco Rubio, the Republican National Committee pushed through new rules that could change the face of the party for some time – including one rule that Rush Limbaugh said was designed to freeze pro-life Christians out of the GOP.

Under rules proposed by election lawyer Ben Ginsberg, who said he was acting on behalf of the Romney campaign, the presidential candidate who wins a state primary would get to select all state delegates to the convention and “disavow” anyone who meets his disapproval. The delegates, in turn, draw up the platform and formally nominate candidates.

The new code was opposed by the Family Research Center, Leadership Institute founder Morton Blackwell, and attorney James Bopp, who helped draw up the original pro-life plank in 1980.

House Speaker John Boehner presided over the voice vote on the rule, which appeared to have an even number of yes and no votes.

The controversy deepened after a video showed a teleprompter with a prerecorded message that the change had been approved, leading to speculation the vote was fixed.

Limbaugh revealed the behind-the-scenes moves of the GOP establishment.

Dean Clancy of FreedomWorks called the move “a transparent attempt to neuter the grassroots and head off future insurgencies like those of Barry Goldwater, Ronald Reagan, and Ron Paul.”

Richard Viguerie of ConservativeHQ.com rapped the Romney campaign and the Republican Establishment. “Competing candidates and issues are what makes a party strong and brings new voters into the party as candidates and issues vie for support,” he wrote.

More than a few believe the change is intended to deprive pro-life, pro-family Republicans from having a voice and venue in the party of Lincoln.

“The establishment Republicans want to kick the conservatives out of the party. They don’t want the conservatives having any say-so in the party whatsoever,” said Rush Limbaugh on his radio program on Tuesday.

Limbaugh said “major figures” used to approach him to ask, “What are you gonna do about the Christians?”

“This abortion, it’s killing us!” he says they told him. “You gotta get them to shut up about this.”

“We don’t want ‘em! It’s not good. It’s embarrassing.”

He said the rules change was “about the establishment finally being at its wits’ end on this ‘War on Women.’”

In 1968, the Democratic Party began its liberalization by changing its formula for selecting delegates, transforming the disparate national party into an advocacy group for feminists, unions, and the far-Left. Four years later, the party nominated George McGovern.

Former Congressman Jim Kolbe, who is openly homosexual, has said this will be the last Republican Party platform to defend marriage.

Sarah Palin stated recently that a conservative third party could replace the Republicans if they ignore their traditional platform.

A second vote, presided over by former New Hampshire Governor John Sununu, passed a rule that shortened the primary season, which critics say will undermine grassroots campaigns while assisting those with abundant financial resources or insider connections.

Romney surrogates say they have adopted the rules to assist him if he is running for re-election in 2016.

Rush Limbaugh indicated another reason behind the change in delegate selection by quoting an Associated Press story, which states conservatives are leaving the GOP “badly out of step with a nation that’s rapidly becoming less white.”

“[A]ccording to the AP, when you boil it all down, the biggest problem with the Republican Party is its ‘whiteness,’” Limbaugh said. ”We gotta get rid of ‘em. The AP wants us gone. The Democrat Party wants us gone. And the Republican establishment doesn’t want the hassle of dealing with this.”

“Even if you were able to cleanse the party of all these white conservatives, do you think the AP is gonna start writing love stories about you?” he asked.

Columnist Michelle Malkin, an outspoken conservative, told the party’s conservatives to remain engaged and take their party back.

“The bottom line: Get organized, get loud, and stay vigilant,” she wrote. “No matter who ends up in the White House in January, no matter what letter follows the names of the people in power in Washington, the grass-roots conservative movement must be prepared to stand its ground.”

And look how soon!

His plan all along and his own words condemn the IMPOSTER Romney - saying 'he was to the left of Kennedy' and backed it up w/his 'accomplishments'. Nothing was hidden, voters simply refused to believe reality.

Then he got support from Santorum - who campaigned for him in '08 going around claiming Romney is a conservative! Since 'supposed' conservative 'take one for the team' Santorum was so 'useable' Romney used him again in '12 to keep the real conservative NEWT at bay. NEWT was Romney's only threat.

Santorum is a POS while going around now hoping his dumb clueless voters aren't the wiser. Santorum is the GOP lackey - to draw in conservatives and drop them once his/GOP mission is accomplished.

As usual, Limbaugh makes the key point here -- a serious problem with Republican conventions is: they look "too white" and "too male".
This gives Democrats and media pundits (but I repeat myself) the opportunity to decry that Republican "whiteness" represents underlying "racism", "sexism", etc.

In the future, Republican candidates will be certain to chose enough delegates of color to neutralize such criticisms.

In short, it's more about appearance than substance.

The irony to all of this is that the two best bridges to MOST minorities are 1) social conservatism generally, and 2) strong domestic economy. These things resonate with most Latins, Indians (both kinds), Asians and many blacks. These things also resonate with with many white labor union types outside of the education racket and government.

Reagan understood this. The Voodoo Republicans of the Northeast never have, or do not care.

Running the party to the left is a given, most hold their nose voters are aware of this. My concern is that he will make it impossible to ever have a conservative on the ballot. He has silently disavowed the Tea Party and conservatives. I am not sure which is worse 4 more years of Obama with hope for next time or 8 years of Romney with no hope. Remember it was Romney and his staffers that started the attacks on Sarah Palin so that he could run again in 4 years.

This is a long-term fight. We will win some, we will lose some, but we will never stop fighting for what we believe in. Next battle, imho - is to get Obama and his Chicago Thugs OUT, and that, my friends, needs to be done in order to save this country. We will continue the pro-life, heterosexual marriage message, which actually DOES resonate with most of the citizenry in this country, immigrants and native born alike.

It is never easy and it never happens overnight.

I am working with several friends to do some research because we think there is something else going on here.

I think a game is going on and it isn’t between the GOPe and Grassroots. That is what someone else wants to happen.

partial agreement with rush..

these rules were not only adopted to marginalize pro life republicant’s.. but also the conservative / constitutionalist wing of the republican party..

the gop-e has created a perfect storm..

with so many obsessed with getting rid of the socialist in the white house, they fail to see the socialist the gop-e has planted right within our midst...

the election of mcromney will spell the end of the conservative / constitutionalist wing of the gop-e..

you see, they just don’t need us now..

they got plenty of dems that are pissed at fubo to make up for our voting block...

this is not even in doubt.. the question is, when faced with extinction, what should you do??

I would like answers, not attacks please..

Psalm 144: "The Voodoo Republicans of the Northeast never have, or do not care."

I don't know any of those "Voodoo Republicans" you mention, though it is certainly true that in heavily blue-dominated states, the only way Republicans ever get elected is by appearing more purple than red, so to speak.

Again, I think the issue being addressed here is more the appearance of "whiteness" at the convention than any dispute over Conservative principles.

“I am not sure which is worse 4 more years of Obama with hope for next time or 8 years of Romney with no hope.”

The horns of the dilemma, to be sure. Boehner tipped it for me, just as I was starting to wobble. The Voodoo Republicans will not get my support anymore. I have disliked every one of them since 1988, but did in the end vote for them. Not this time. Boehner is the face of the GOP. That is the party. Expect more of those kinds of actions.

Hi, IbJ.

Holding your nose is not a solution. The solution is so much work, though, and so full of pitfalls and scorn that it will be the last gasp effort.

A new 2d party....whether a thoroughly destroyed republican name brand that is resurrected from the ashes by those who purchase the name, OR a real, brand new 2nd party, OR a restructured current 3rd party...the current rino party has outlived its usefulness.

“I won’t be holding my nose, I had enough of that in 2008. I’ll be voting for a real conservative, although he will lose.”

I hear that!
In ‘08 I voted for Palin & against Obama... (McCain should’ve never made it out of the Primaries.)

I am still weighing voting for Ryan & against Obama...

But I don’t like people telling me that if I don’t vote for Romney then I am in essence voting for Obama.
No, I am voting for the person that most aligns w/my personal political philosophy.

I think we need 3rd parties. And 4th parties. And 5th parties... smash both parties & release the stranglehold they have over our country.
They are merely opposite sides of the same coin - and too many care more about power/privilege than principle.

“when faced with extinction, what should you do??

I would like answers, not attacks please..”

Recognize what is closest to you which threatens your survival.

Recognize what is most stealthy and difficult to guard against which threatens your survival.

Recognize what most consistently and perpetually threatens your survival.

Once that thing is recognized quit feeding it and kill it. Your survival depends upon victory.

“A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear. The traitor is the plague.”

Marcus Tullius Cicero

Like Romney, Santorum switched to pro-life to run for office in 1990, he had been anti-Reagan in the 1980s.

In 1996, Santorum endorsed the presidential candidate Specter, running on the agenda to remove life from the GOP party platform, Santorum remained always loyal to Specter.

In 2008, Santorum became a Romney man, 2012 a Romney stalking horse.

This week August 27 (CBS News) In an interview with CBS Evening News anchor Scott Pelley, Mitt Romney said his views on abortion rights are more lenient than those put forward in the Republican party platform.

“Would you rather be hit by a moped or a Mack truck?”

A good question, which begs others. Which left wing culture of death statist is the most dangerous? A sober, diligent and competent one, or a dissolute, idle and inexperienced one? Elagabalus or Diocletian?

ObamaCare will be replaced with RomneyCare. Romney just said how proud he is of it. And the big difference between them is that RomneyCare has less pages. Romney appointed democratic and liberal judges and defended it by saying they were mostly appointed to lower courts.

The way I see it is the only choice we have is to pack Congress and the Senate with conservatives. I'll cast my vote for Mitt only because he's not Obama but all of my choices, from local to State to Federal are for conservatives. Especially my judiciary choices.
