Bill Maher Defends Eastwood: He 'Killed'
Breitbart ^ | SEPTEMBER 1, 2012 | John Nolte

Posted on 09/01/2012 2:58:01 PM PDT by RobinMasters

One of our many talented conservative video-geniuses really should put together a pro-Romney ad using the many terrific lines from Eastwood's RNC performance. The reason the Left is so angry at Eastwood is because America's last remaining icon brilliantly mocked Their Precious One and they can't stand that.

Though he doesn't agree with the man's politics, Maher looks at what Eastwood did strictly from the standpoint of performance and has to admire what he saw:

On his HBO show on Friday, Maher gave the actor “props” for pretending that President Obama was sitting in an empty chair next to him onstage.

“As a performer, as a stand-up comedian for 30 years who knows how hard it is to get laughs, excuse me, he went up there … without a net, on a tightrope. There was no teleprompter. He did a bit with just an empty chair and killed,” Maher said. “He committed to it, it was consistent and it worked.”

There was an earlier thread about this. Someone came on and posted this confirms Eastwood was a plant. Just goes to show how goofy any one of us can be.

I have to say I'm surprised at the number of conservatives who didn't instantly recognize the connection between Eastwood's speech and the 1950 classic film Harvey starring Jimmy Stewart.

I guess it is time for Maher (and Stewart and their ilk) to don their “fair” and “impartial” masks...

Maher has deep ‘thunk’ himself into an abyss. He can’t bare to admit Eastwood scored a winner and his Oblameo idol is being left in the dust.

No, what you have is the fact everyone who knows better in the world of entertainment keeping their mouths shut in trashing Mr. Eastwood. Sure the media is trying to trash him and I’m sure SOME comics will but over all you haven’t seen too many tweets or comments from left wingers in Hollywood bashing Clint. Why? He’s a powerful respected Oscar winning director and producer. Nobody is crossing Clint; he’s a living legend in Hollywood with many friends and connections.
After all these fools like to work and pay their bills.

The only people that need to apologize for Bill Maher are the owners of the lead-acid storage battery factory that was just upstream from where his mother was living when she was pregnant.

I confess; I'm one of them who didn't understand the bit until explained later. Guess I'm not just that knowledgeable as a movie buff.

Between Chairman Zero shooting himself in the foot with “You didn’t build that” and Clint Eastwood making it OK to mock him with the Empty Chair speech, I think that it’s actually possible that Romney might win this one.

I see your point, but if that was the case they could just say nothing at all. It reeks of 2008 where the freak left media pretended it had no horse in the race.

For the next fifty years, at every convention season, they will reference Clint Eastwood’s speech. It was an original. It was a classic. And it struck a chord. Tell me the speeches about which this can be said. Bravo, Mr. Eastwood. You made my day.
