BILLINGS - Calling it an opportunity to support "traditional family values", the Montana Family Foundation will open a Chick-fil-A drive-thru in Billings for one day in September.
The "Chick-Fil-A Appreciation Day" is Sept. 8. For a suggested donation of $20 per person, the public is invited to attend this fundraising event where hot Chick-fil-A chicken, coleslaw and chocolate chip cookies will be available to the first 1000 people.
Earlier this summer, Chick-Fil-A CEO Dan Cathy made several statements supporting what he believes to be "the traditional family," saying about same-sex marriage that those who "have the audacity to define what marriage is about" were "inviting God's judgment on our nation".
His comments spurred boycotts from gay marriage advocates and human rights groups, but Cathy supporters include former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, who started a Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day movement. More than 600,000 people RSVPed on Facebook for Huckabee's appreciation event.
On Aug. 1, Chick-fil-A restaurants reported record-breaking sales.
The Billings event will be held at 328 S. Shiloh Road.
Jeff Laszloffy, President/CEO of the Montana Family Foundation said, "A majority of the citizens of Montana share the same conservative values as Dan Cathy and solidified them as the law in 2004 when Montana voted to amend its Constitution to define marriage as being exclusively between one man and one woman in this state."
"Since Chick-fil-A doesn't yet have locations in our state most Montanan's were unable to participate in the national event in August. So we created Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day 2.0 on Saturday, September 8th from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and invite the Treasure State to join the celebration and help support the Montana Family Foundation's efforts."
I had never experienced Chick-Fil-a before last month.
They opened a new restaurant here about a year or two ago, but it’s situated by “The Mall” which is a area I avoid at all costs.
I decided to brave the traffic to show support for the Appreciation Day and it turned out to be a big “Win-Win.”
Not only was the traffic suberbly managed by private security that the restaurant had hired, but the chicken was (is) absolutely first rate. I’ve gone back there five times now, which is more “fast food” than I’ve bought in an entire year.
This outfit deserves to succeed both as a company that’s managed in a Godly fashion as well as a company that puts out a great product at a reasonable price.
The employees are about the most pleasant bunch of folks I’ve ever encountered at a restaurant of this type.
Good for you! :-)
Glad you like it. I just got hired on by a Chick-fil-a (need a part time job while in college) and I really appreciate their values.
The smiling, upbeat attitude of the workers there fits perfectly with my mental image of you.
I got the impression that they hired people who enjoyed being polite.
One of the first things I look at when I go into a fast food place is the employees. If they have hardware in their faces I turn around and leave.
lol good one
“...the Montana Family Foundation will open a Chick-fil-A drive-thru in Billings for one day in September.”
One day? What, are they importing the food from somewhere just for that day? Call the Human Rights Commission, THAT is torture!
Student with summer job, why is your account “banned or suspended”?
It is not really banned. Just a joke image on there. :-) Several other people have the same joke image on theirs as a spoof as well.
