President Obama and the Democrats are converging on Charlotte, N.C., next week for their three-day national convention, but Republicans arent ceding the spotlight in the swing state.
The Romney campaign said Saturday that vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan has scheduled a campaign stop Monday at East Carolina University in Greenville.
The Democratic National Convention kicks off a day later at the Time Warner Cable Arena across the state in Charlotte.
Vice President Joseph R. Biden had planned to campaign in Florida during the GOP convention in Tampa, but that trip was canceled because of concerns about the proximity of then-tropical storm Isaac.
During the convention, the GOP is planning to run its own rapid response operation in Charlotte, with Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus heading a group of that includes South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley and Florida Sen. Marco Rubio.
Under the Dome, a web site covering North Carolina politics, reported Saturday the Romney campaign has a new anti-Obama flier in mailboxes around the state.
The flier, titled Barack Obama. What a disappointment, repeats the Republican talking point that the presidents health care reforms take more than $700 billion out of Medicare to fund the Affordable Care Act.

The flier (see here and here) features photos of Romney's two-stop bus tour through North Carolina in August. (U.S. Sen. Richard Burr even makes a cameo in one photo.) The message is the oft-repeated mostly false claim that Obama wants to raid Medicare of $716 billion and features an elderly gentleman slumped in a wheelchair above the kicker: "Barack Obama. What a disappointment."...... Under the Dome
THE GOPERS SHOULD GET TWO BIG SIGNS UP, BETWEEN THE AIRPORT AND THE DEM CONVENTION CENTER, WITH THE ‘DON’T BELIEVE THE LIBERAL MEDIA!’ MESSAGE ON THEM. >B-)
Good American Patriots of North Carolina, it’s now your turn to come out by the thousands to greet VP candidate, Paul Ryan in Greenville, NC tomorrow and...... likewise for Nikki Haley, Marco rubio, etc. in Charlotte, NC during the DNC Freak Show convention!!!
Dear Cincinatus’ Wife; plese explain if you would the reason you say that the claim that Obama’s plan will raid Medicare of $716 billion is false. The way I read what’s about to happen in Jan ‘13 is exactly that, and much worse but I won’t go into it now. Thanx

One each way, and underneath, put in parenthesis: (especially anything any PMSDNC crazy says!)
There are about 193,000 people in the greater metro area of Greenville, NC. Let’s give Paul Ryan a great turnout of Romney/Ryan folks tomorrow in Greenville and embarass the DNC Freak Show convention in Charlotte, NC this week!! ABO!!!
Looks to me like she just posted something from an article.
What Charlotte needs next week is a typical Sarah Palin rally.
It would probably be their only chance to see an American flag treated with respect all week.
Good news - the Dims “broke convention” by trying to dilute the RNC deal - let’s see who can be more effective...
I did. Didn’t see it!!!
I guess The Dome missed the video of OBAMA HIMSELF admitting that Obamacare is funded by cutting 716 Billion from Medicare and promising not to restore the funding. I hope Romney has the television ad ready to dispute the Obama media’s lies.
