It was remarkable watching the mainstream media fulminate against an actor and miss entirely how he connected with the audience. This was a crowd not just of snotty baby boomers with fancy degrees and charter membership in the Smart Set, but real Americans who worked, raised families and fought for their country.
The media called him out of touch and wondered darkly that perhaps his commonsense conservatism could best be explained by creeping senility. Surely, they told each other, no one would fall for his act.
.... The mainstream media elite hated Ronald Reagan, and it is now starting to hate Clint Eastwood. That’s no shock. As William Bigelow astutely observed here, the media and the rest of America’s liberal elite have nothing but contempt for its elders.
In fact, undercutting prior generations and de-legitimizing their values and traditions is key to the progressive project.
The old must be out of touch, they must be irrelevant, they must, most of all, be uncool. If not, someone might actually listen to their wisdom, and wisdom is penicillin to the infection that is progressivism. Eastwood is, always was, and always will be, cool. And devastating.
Eastwood gets real Americans, ...when he wasn’t making wildly popular movies on his own terms, he ran an inn. Eastwood built that. He is a businessman. He gets it.
So, when Eastwood observes, more in sorrow than anger, that when a nice guy just isn’t performing, you have to let him go, millions of regular Americans nod in agreement. It’s just common sense.

i thought Mr Eastwood’s impersonation of 0bama’s speech pattern, how he leans on podiums, and the to-large (almost empty) suit were brilliant slams on 0bama
He planted the idea that won't leave when the cameras went off, nor when either convention is over, and any attempts at replicating his one-time genius performance will fall flat--no matter how the regressive "progressives" try to spin it. It's there like an old song in the head, and we'll all be more cautious from now on.
I thought that the very chair Clint used resembled the iconic tall chair that sat in the corner of almost every grade school classroom, it was commonly referred to at the time as “The Dunce Chair”
He has illuminated so many issues, such as the way we coddle our children by eliminating the things that would injure their self esteem at the expense of their education and has resulted in a generation that could elect an empty chair.

Mark Halperin of TIME magazine, former (and still, like Georgie Clintonopoulos?) apparatchik of the Klinton Regime, twice in one hour ran down Clint's speech as "a Bayonne dinner-club routine", and he and John Heilemann of The New Yorker (gay, gay, gay!) viciously cut down both what Eastwood had said and the way he said it.
Then they went on to tell Charlie Rose on his PBS show, that the MSM would filter, slice-and-dice, and reassemble the GOP message in ways unhelpful to the purposes of the campaign, and anyway nobody saw Clint's gag-gigs so it doesn't matter. The MSM will control the debate, they will rule in and rule out material, and Obama will win -- they just about guaranteed it. I think Clint made their testicals feel small and not very special, so that they reacted by puffing up and saying more than they should have.
Glad to see that Clint's act has escaped MSM censorship -- damn that New Media! And just when we had the People cornered!

What Clint did was brilliant. If anything, he was as gentle as possible in the words and phrases he chose to use against Obama.
The reason he’s being so personally attacked is the old loyalty thing. The entire Left - and double in hollywod - runs on the Gestapo model. papers are checked, re-checked, and checked again And you’d better be smiling. The Left is not a group of people who agree on anything other than that they are all scared sh*tless of disagreeing. So those who run the Left know they have to keep them scared, and down, down, down. Because if they ever get free, they’ll rip their master’s throats out.
That’s why Clint scares them so much - and needs to be personally attacked for what he did, so he can’t be used as a role model.
Conservatives look at this with amusement. But in the libeal world, this is literally life or death. And their feral, snarling response to it proves how seriously they take it.
Of course, it IS amusing... LOL!
Then should have a second (smaller) chair with a propeller beanie perched upon it representing Biden.
The good news is that the left is LOSING this one BIGTIME.
