He’s going to find out real quick what happens to those who start false religions.

Kind of crazy (mostly in a harmless way) but he actually did some good things.

Could be a problem for the Washington Times.

So putting peoples’ souls in jeopardy is “harmless”?

Man in the Moon
from the Daniel Amos album "Horrendous Disc"
Words and Music by Jerry Parker Chamberlain
©1980 Cancel and Eat (ASCAP)

I saw Mr. Moon last night
you know he's on the rise
There's something in his eyes I've never seen before
There's some kind of magic here
he's so full of surprises
He'll hypnotize like the lull of a lullaby

Carry me home in my dreams
nothing's the way it seems
Give up my world
now it's all too absurd
What has happened to me?

Man in the moon
I was shooting for a star much higher
Man in the moon
there's no life nowhere near
I'm dying to get out of here
Lord don't leave me high and dry
let me fly

Oh the moon is a yellow man
eclipsed inside his cage
Concealed from public rage
faith of our fathers
Well I can't smile anymore
oh end this masquerade
Let the nightmare fade
kill the gilded calf

I've seen someone in my dreams
Who was born to die and rise to redeem
So pay no attention
to that man behind the curtain
Will this upstart ever stop

Man in the moon
man in the moon
Man in the moon
I'm the man in the moon
Man in the moon
I'm the man in the moon
Lord, don't leave me here

Nah, the mass marriages and funding the Washington Times was harmless.

I said “mostly”

I wonder if his religious movement will survive his death.

A strange right-wing? Christian religious cult.

Despite its central role in bankrolling the American Christian right the Unification Church has received little sustained scrutiny, nor has its influence in American politics been given much media treatment despite such striking evidence as this footage - again found by Gorenfeld - of President George W. Bush Sr. and first lady Barbara Bush at a public birthday party for Sun Myung Moon’s wife.

That display of Moon’s Washington connections pales in comparison to the now notorious 2004 incident in which Sun Myung Moon was “coronated” as “the messiah”, in the Dirksen US federal office building, during a ceremony attended by as many as ( claims the Unification Church ) 81 members of the US Congress.

[ excerpt from Moon’s speech ] “The five great saints and many other leaders in the spirit world, including even Communist leaders such as Marx and Lenin, who committed all manner of barbarity and murders on earth, and dictators such as Hitler and Stalin, have found strength in my teachings, mended their ways and been reborn as new persons. Emperors, kings and presidents who enjoyed opulence and power on earth, and even journalists who had worldwide fame, have now placed themselves at the forefront of the column of the true love revolution. Together they have sent to earth a resolution expressing their determination in the light of my teaching of the true family ideal. They have declared to all Heaven and Earth that Reverend Sun Myung Moon is none other than humanity’s Savior, Messiah, Returning Lord and True Parent. This resolution has been announced on every corner of the globe.”

John Gorenfeld has given extensive coverage to the bizzare incident that has been given spotty ( at best ) mainstream media notice.

The Imperials:

http://www.smartlyrics.com/Song700495-The-Imperials-Oh-Buddha-lyrics.aspx

Well, Old Buddha was a man and I'm sure that he meant well
But I pray for his disciples lest they wind up in hell
And I'm sure that old Mohammed thought he knew the way
But it won't be Hare Krishna we stand before on The Judgment Day.

No, it won't be old Buddha that's sitting on the throne
And it won't be old Mohammed that's calling us Home
And it won't be Hare Krishna that plays that trumpet tune
And we're going to see The Son not Reverend Moon!

I remember when I was about 12 and some “Moonies” came to the house. They were selling cheap jewelry for their “church”. Even at 12, I could see an empty look in their eyes. It was and is a cult. Arranged marriages, working for peanuts so all the money goes to the “church”. “Reverend” Moon was a false prophet at best.. IMHO, he was a cult leader as well.

What I read is the Unification Church believes the Bible to be God, the Creator's, revelation to Man, that Man is fallen and sinful, that Jesus Christ as the Messiah was crucified and resurrected and that He will come again.

Your Faith must hold other core beliefs.

You better hope you haven't been lead astray by whatever faith community you follow. You and some others are just so supremely confident, I wonder if you're in different churches. That would be amusing. Whose faith would be 'right?'

It's not my job or privilege to judge Rev. Moon or his faith; I trust God will handle that, Unification's followers and everyone else without my input.

You won’t judge Rev Moon but you sure are quick to judge those here who express their concerns about him. Don’t try to say you didn’t either, your post is clear.
