IG: VA files exposed to fire and water damage
BY JORDAN GREEN
Wednesday, August 29,2012

The Winston-Salem Veterans Administration regional office is looking for warehouse space to store tens of thousands of benefit claims files on the heels of a visit by the office of inspector general in May in which the oversight agency raised concerns about improper file storage.

**SNIP**

The Winston-Salem Regional Office indicated in a written response that the majority of the files are inactive, although some are active, meaning that they have a pending claim. The agency said if a veteran files a supplemental claim staff would be able to retrieve the file within 48 hours and there would be no impact on timeliness of claims processing.

The IG report also raised questions about whether the overflow of files is putting the structural integrity of the federal building at risk.

“...on the heels of a visit by the office of inspector general in May...” It is now September, how can it be on the heels? I would expect nothing more from the VA with a backlog of 600,000 clams. And we want the feds to run our healthcare?

"Think Commiecare™."

Administered by AA hires.

I had the misfortune to work in the VA over the past two years and it is one huge flustercuck, as any organization will be that hires based on skin color and gender opposed to ability.

The Kenyan must go.

The one that was in “The Chocolate City”, i.e., New Orleans, was ALL AA hires! The veterans that worked there, were looked down upon, including a former Spec Force Captain that worked in my section.

The little sleepy town Alexandria LA location, did NOT like having the light shine on them, after Katrina, since New Orleans VA had all the damage, including the same paperwork trouble, (hmm imagine that). All the AA hires, all the buddy hires, made me sick with anger, because those folks were NOT veterans, and would not hire veterans.

I wonder if a small part of the gazillion square feet of EMPTY office space administered (sic) by GSA might easily solve the problem? oh, wait...much too simple for a gubmit solution.

Also, there should not be a non-vet employee of the VA.

The Kenyan must go.
