Obama Dems: Republicans Want 1950s, 1812, Jim Crow, Slavery
Breitbart ^

It’s clear that Barack Obama and his Democrats are out of ideas; they are using their party’s ancient and antiquated technique of painting the Republican Party as reactionary. The latest example came today courtesy of fly-by-night Los Angeles mayor and Democratic National Convention chairman Antonio Villaraigosa. Appearing on Fox News Sunday, he said that the Republican platform “looks like the platform of 1812”, adding “Reagan would be turning in his grave" to hear some of the proposals coming from the GOP.

I plead guilty on wanting the 50s, but the good parts of it. The clothes, the hair styles, the cars, the music. An era when there were fewer unerring mothers and fewer divorces. A Hollywood that was still producing family friendly movies and tv shows. When the church was better respected and held more sway in society. When America was prosperous and an international manufacturing powerhouse. When kids and teens treated their elders with more respect. Etc, etc.

The Democrats are going to lose the election with this talking point. 1812 was a time period when the real Patriots were in charge and none of the nonsense coming from this group would have been tolerated. In the 1950’s, Eisenhower was president and there was no silliness such as is going on today. Their reference to the old days is a reference to the good old days. They had better rethink this one.

Does the GOP really want to go back to a time when the Democrats ran Congress, "Modern Republicans"--now called RINOs--ran their party, and Human Events was a newsletter consisting of six 8.5 X 11 pages?

Yes, the Eisenhower Administration in particular was rather RINOish.

Don't forget that during the first three years of the 1950s, Truman was president and the US was experiencing military casualties at a much higher rate in stalemated Korea when compared to Iraq and Afghanistan combined.

But, contrary to your post, Republicans actually did control both houses of Congress from 1953 to 1955.

That was only 20% of the decade. The best part of the 1950's was January to June, 1953, when Bob Taft ran the Senate. His successor, Bill Knowland, wasn't as competent, and after 1954, LBJ ran the show.

There's room for more people up there ~ seize the place, ship the libs and mexicans to 54 degrees 40 minutes north ~ and all will be well.

Give it back to the Mohawk traditionalists ~ they want to bring back ceremonial cannibalism

Back when Cuba, Iran and Iraq were allies, and nothing that you could buy came from Communist China.
