Senior officials in the Obama Administration sent a message to Tehran in the past few days, according to which the U.S. does not intend to join Israel's side if it decides to attack the Iranian nuclear installations on its own, reports Israel's second-largest paper, Yediot Aharonot.
According to the report, the U.S. sent the message to Iran in order to avoid an Iranian response military response that would target U.S. installations in the Gulf region.
The message was reportedly conveyed to Iran through two European countries that serve as a conduit of communication between Iran and the U.S. in times of crisis.
Nationalist newspaper Makor Rishon has accused Yediot Aharonot of working with the Obama Administration against the Netanyahu government's planned strike on Iran.

The US has never taken part in any of the several wars Israel has had to fight for its existence, other than to supply and provide diplomatic support. And they have at times pressured Israel into halting military action, as in 1956. So in a sense this is true.
And the world owes a large debt of gratitude to the Israelis for taking out Iraq’s nuclear reactors years ago. We are so stupid (are leaders and the liberals who follow them) as to think that God will not have His say in the matter. We deny Israel at our own peril

But, I think, it is more than “target U.S. installations in the Gulf region”.
Historically, since WWII, and in the last 35 yrs or so, it is *appears* more the case of the U.S. not wanting to actually demonstrate visible backing of Israel in military action.
IOW, perhaps, it is the U.S. general foreign policy to play the diplomacy, neutral card in that region, when it comes to any military action taken by Israel, in that region.
HOWEVER, both the Arab countries & Iranian Mullah regime do clearly recognize and/or perceive the U.S. as being very much a backer of Israel. For them it is reality, particularly for a good majority of Arab population, in different Arab countries.
So, ultimately, in their perception, it really doesn’t matter if the U.S. actually is a willing & demonstrable participant in any military action taken by Israel. IOW, by association, THEY will view the U.S. as a participant & on the side of Israel.

If/when Israel does take action, my humble advice is as was before: make sure you get them thoroughly - the Mullahs’ regime, unlike Syria & Iraq, when Israel did take action against their nuke facilities, will Not give up easily, & has got its tentacles far & wide. If left half alive, it will counteract.
Even if the US does somehow manage to stay out of a conflict, and doesn’t get a direct lick from the Mullahs, I’d advise people to buy bicycles, as well as diesel engine cars with an attachment for burning vegetable oil and such. Crude will go through the roof and keep soaring.

(imho) the countries named would be Israel and the United States, as having done it, yet there are other countries not wanting a nuclear iran. Two or three other countries come to mind.
This is this clown’s mode of operation. He has, once again, turned on an ally and divorced himself from defending them during adversity. If he is re-elected, our allies will, one by one, divorce themselves of us.

If Netanyahu ‘disappears’ and can’r be found for a day or so, then ‘reappears’ as if he had never been gone, start the countdown. What Israel does then will surprise the world.
The U.S. has had enormous trade deficits with a lot of countries in the Middle East, including some with radical Islamic governments. These countries send many of their dollars back to the U.S. in the form of political lobbying, support of non-profit groups, etc.
Seems like they're starting to see a return on their investment, no?
Israel would seem to be relying on an effectively Moslem nation to defend it against its Moslem neighbors.

The world right ow looks very like it did when Reagan took office. There was a coward in the White House and the Russian/Communist Empire was the ascending vigorously everywhere. Now it is the Mohammedans whom we have enriched and the Moslem would-be empire that is in the ascendant with a president in Washington whose cowardice may not be his most dangerous characteristic. There was a point when suggestions were made by unofficial people but people with attachment to the rulers that the US might have to invade and occupy Israel to ensure fairness in the region. I. for one, assumed these were serious suggestions, feelers as it ere, from the party in power.
That statement is not as far-fetched as it might seem. Going back to period after 1912 (when the last two states in the continental U.S. joined the Union), and certainly after Hawaii was added in 1950, there’s a legitimate question to be asked about why the U.S. has engaged in nearly constant military campaigns in far-flung corners of the globe without ever adding a 51st state to the Union. Not that Israel could ever function as a U.S. state in any practical sense, but what exactly does the U.S. get in return for these massive expenditures in places that have little or no value in terms of resources, strategic military value, etc.?

Israel’s response to the US is that without US backing, the US cannot in any way moderate what Israel does to defend itself. Nor can it limit how the war might spread to other nations in the region. “It would be a pity if a stray *Iranian* nuclear missile detonated on Mecca, now wouldn’t it?”
However, they might add, if it turns into a medium-sized nuclear war, the US will not be immune to radioactive isotopes being dumped on its heartland because of the jet stream.

Israel took out Saddam’s Osirak so U.S. forces never had to face nuclear weapons when liberating kuwait or Bagdad.
Israel stores one of the largest and certainly the safest and most dependable U.S. weapons stockpile in the region if the U.S. ever has to go to war.
