U.S. Tells Iran: We Won't Join Israeli Attack
Arutz Sheva ^ | 3/9/12 | Gil Ronen

Posted on 09/03/2012 12:36:55 AM PDT by Eleutheria5

Senior officials in the Obama Administration sent a message to Tehran in the past few days, according to which the U.S. does not intend to join Israel's side if it decides to attack the Iranian nuclear installations on its own, reports Israel's second-largest paper, Yediot Aharonot.

According to the report, the U.S. sent the message to Iran in order to avoid an Iranian response military response that would target U.S. installations in the Gulf region.

The message was reportedly conveyed to Iran through two European countries that serve as a conduit of communication between Iran and the U.S. in times of crisis.

Nationalist newspaper Makor Rishon has accused Yediot Aharonot of working with the Obama Administration against the Netanyahu government's planned strike on Iran.

The US has never taken part in any of the several wars Israel has had to fight for its existence, other than to supply and provide diplomatic support. And they have at times pressured Israel into halting military action, as in 1956. So in a sense this is true.

And the world owes a large debt of gratitude to the Israelis for taking out Iraq’s nuclear reactors years ago. We are so stupid (are leaders and the liberals who follow them) as to think that God will not have His say in the matter. We deny Israel at our own peril

Israel took the heat for the 1981 destruction of Iraq's nuclear plant. In 2007 Israel took out the Syrian nuclear facility as well. How many times does Israel have to do this???? Pres. Obama is not just “leading from the rear” he is cowering in the corner and ignoring reality. The Russians, China, N. Korea and the entire Persian/Arab world are snickering at this paper lion nation. Oh, shades of Carter! Who would have dreamed that a future U.S. President would outdo Carter in sheer niavete and stupidity?

Perhaps Obama is preparing for some kind of armed action on the home front and does not want to dilute his attention...

Besides, he will not risk being seen as a friend to Israel in her hour of need. The other Muslim countries around the world will shriek at the “Joooooosssss!!!!” like a bunch of stuck pigs, but secretly, they will be pleased that the Iranian Shiites got a spanking.

Israel should be prepared to use nukes from day two if it gets ugly.

I was thinking along the same lines earlier.

You definitely got a point there, imo.

But, I think, it is more than “target U.S. installations in the Gulf region”.

Historically, since WWII, and in the last 35 yrs or so, it is *appears* more the case of the U.S. not wanting to actually demonstrate visible backing of Israel in military action.

IOW, perhaps, it is the U.S. general foreign policy to play the diplomacy, neutral card in that region, when it comes to any military action taken by Israel, in that region.

HOWEVER, both the Arab countries & Iranian Mullah regime do clearly recognize and/or perceive the U.S. as being very much a backer of Israel. For them it is reality, particularly for a good majority of Arab population, in different Arab countries.

So, ultimately, in their perception, it really doesn’t matter if the U.S. actually is a willing & demonstrable participant in any military action taken by Israel. IOW, by association, THEY will view the U.S. as a participant & on the side of Israel.

Hi Eleutheria5, long time no chat!

If/when Israel does take action, my humble advice is as was before: make sure you get them thoroughly - the Mullahs’ regime, unlike Syria & Iraq, when Israel did take action against their nuke facilities, will Not give up easily, & has got its tentacles far & wide. If left half alive, it will counteract.

Even if the US does somehow manage to stay out of a conflict, and doesn’t get a direct lick from the Mullahs, I’d advise people to buy bicycles, as well as diesel engine cars with an attachment for burning vegetable oil and such. Crude will go through the roof and keep soaring.

What if the mullahs of iran disappeared and Israel didn't do it? What if the nuke facilities in iran disappeared and Israel didn't do it? What if the nuclear scientists in iran disappeared and Israel didn't do it? And what if the United States didn't do it either?

(imho) the countries named would be Israel and the United States, as having done it, yet there are other countries not wanting a nuclear iran. Two or three other countries come to mind.

This is this clown’s mode of operation. He has, once again, turned on an ally and divorced himself from defending them during adversity. If he is re-elected, our allies will, one by one, divorce themselves of us.
You cannot repeatedly turn your back on people who depend on you for support before they catch on.

I cannot believe the White House has said just the other day that they are as tight with Israel as ever. What a bunch of crawling cowards!

I think there is a very simple explanation for this, and it goes way back before Barack Obama was even known on the political scene in this country.

The U.S. has had enormous trade deficits with a lot of countries in the Middle East, including some with radical Islamic governments. These countries send many of their dollars back to the U.S. in the form of political lobbying, support of non-profit groups, etc.

Seems like they're starting to see a return on their investment, no?

If we do deny aid in the attack and resupply we may well be ensuring hat the attack will be nuclear. Israel is not going to launch a failure and a half assed success in this case is a failure. That will break the taboo on use.

The world right ow looks very like it did when Reagan took office. There was a coward in the White House and the Russian/Communist Empire was the ascending vigorously everywhere. Now it is the Mohammedans whom we have enriched and the Moslem would-be empire that is in the ascendant with a president in Washington whose cowardice may not be his most dangerous characteristic. It is as if Carter had been a covert and committed Communist.

There was a point when suggestions were made by unofficial people but people with attachment to the rulers that the US might have to invade and occupy Israel to ensure fairness in the region. I. for one, assumed these were serious suggestions, feelers as it ere, from the party in power.

That statement is not as far-fetched as it might seem. Going back to period after 1912 (when the last two states in the continental U.S. joined the Union), and certainly after Hawaii was added in 1950, there’s a legitimate question to be asked about why the U.S. has engaged in nearly constant military campaigns in far-flung corners of the globe without ever adding a 51st state to the Union. Not that Israel could ever function as a U.S. state in any practical sense, but what exactly does the U.S. get in return for these massive expenditures in places that have little or no value in terms of resources, strategic military value, etc.?

The world is MUCH WORSE than it was in 1980. Yes, the Soviets were the main problem then BUT they had some limited forms of REASON floating around in their little Red heads. The Muslims have NO RESTRAINT and are racing to world domination. Iran gets the bomb, Israel and the rest of the world then becomes hostages circa US Embassy 1979 only MUCH WORSE. The Obama administration is distancing itself from out weary ally, Israel pleading for the Iranians not to attack our targets. This is unbelievable and irresponsible BUT appropriate for a US leader with Islamic ties. The world needs a Reagan right now or at least a watered down version of him - Romney. Americans are not looking at Iran or the enormous threat they pose, Americans are looking at the economy and that's about it. Good luck Israel, you are alone...again!

Israel’s response to the US is that without US backing, the US cannot in any way moderate what Israel does to defend itself. Nor can it limit how the war might spread to other nations in the region. “It would be a pity if a stray *Iranian* nuclear missile detonated on Mecca, now wouldn’t it?”

However, they might add, if it turns into a medium-sized nuclear war, the US will not be immune to radioactive isotopes being dumped on its heartland because of the jet stream.

Are you really that stupid or do you post asinine statement like that to get the paleo’s and paultards to kiss your ass?

Israel bagged the first Mig for the USAF to study and eventually beat with new designs.

Israel took out Saddam’s Osirak so U.S. forces never had to face nuclear weapons when liberating kuwait or Bagdad.

Israel stores one of the largest and certainly the safest and most dependable U.S. weapons stockpile in the region if the U.S. ever has to go to war.

STILL HAPPY THAT YOUR FREAKY DEAKY MUSLIM FRIENDS IN TURKEY ARE STORING OUR NUKES?

Israel has SIXTY FREAKING COMPANIES ON THE NASDAQ, way out of proportion to their size; and considering the % of their GDP they have to spend on defense (even with w/ U.S. help), because NUMBNUTS like you and the morons in D.C. keep sending money and arms to THE JIHADIS, All with that Israel INVENTED TEXTING for your phone, and co-designed the chips and the OS for intel and Microsoft that ARE IN YOUR FREAKING COMPUTER.

THATS exactly what the U.S. gets in return.
