More fear mongering.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Rep. John Lewis urged California delegates today to take their campaign message outside their home state to help send President Barack Obama back to the White House this November.
“You know when to get involved. We need you,” the Georgia Democrat said at a breakfast at the Blake Hotel housing the California delegation. “California’s going to be all right. But we need you to travel to other parts of America and re-elect Barack Obama.”
The civil rights leader shared stories of his activism and experience fighting for equality in the 1960s. He said Democrats now have a “fight on our hands” to ensure justice and freedom for Americans, including same-sex couples who want to marry, for years to come.
“Keep standing up, sticking up and sticking out and get involved and create a nonviolent revolution here in America,” he said.
Lewis’ remarks fired up the crowd of several hundred delegates filling the hotel ballroom for the 8:30 a.m. breakfast.
“Rep John Lewis just spoke about the right to vote & the hope for equality – my eyes are filled with tears,” Los Angeles County Democratic Party Chairman Eric Bauman tweeted after the speech.
A politician who calls for a revolution because of the opposition (minority party)?
I guess he doesn’t like the idea of free elections
This guy sounds about as bright as he looks.
These people do want a one-party dictatorship.
Calling for a coup when you’re own party is i power shows how weak the Obama leadership is
Rep. Lewis must be SCARED because of the rise of a new movement for FREEDOM going on.
No one has a right to vote more than once in the same election, you miserable POS.
One thing that amused me about this jackass was how he smeared Julian Bond when he ran against him.
Thanks NYer.
lewis was always stupid, even before he became a senile old man.
This bipedal POS is openly encouraging vote fraud on a large scale.
Translation:
1- Californias going to be all right."
California has an excess of Obama voters.
2 - You know when to get involved. We need you
You can see Obama is in serious jeopardy of losing in critical swing states. That's where your vote is needed.
3 - "we need you to travel to other parts of America and re-elect Barack Obama"
California liberals should "take their campaign message" (codetalk for "vote") to other states and vote where they are needed to give Obama a victory.
He doesn’t even know the meaning of the word freedom. Pathetic.
Trouble is the American people have been so dumbed down by the NEA policies and media vulgarity that too many of them will deink this swill.
Better they read “Psalm 33: 12 and 13: Blessed is the narion whose God is the Lord; and the people whom He hath chosen for His own inheritance.
The Lord looketh from heaven; He beholdeth the sons of men.”
For then they will be nourished by pure and living waters.
Good God: he looks like a living Muppet!
Protests of all shapes, sizes flood Charlotte as convention nears
By Madeline Will | The Daily Tar Heel
CHARLOTTE Two days before the Democratic National Convention begins in Charlotte, people from across the country arrived to voice their discontent with both President Barack Obama and his opponent Mitt Romney.
UNC senior Bill Pappas, an anthropology major from Charlotte, said he wasnt there to protest a specific issue.
Were all yelling together for different things, he said. Im here to represent the people. This is what democracy looks like. This is civil disobedience. More people should be marching in the streets because we can be heard.
Protesters carried signs advocating immigration reform, womens reproductive rights, an end to capitalism, and environmental initiatives. They chanted phrases like, Im fired up, and I wont take this anymore!
Im here to prove to the people in this country that Democrats arent any better than Republicans, said Matthew Malone, from Oregon.
Fellow protester Daniel Clifton agreed: It seems to me, at this presidential election, we basically dont have a choice.
Eric Verlo, from Colorado, said he was trying to convince others not to vote in protest.
Im here to protest the sham of the election, and the DNC and RNC, he said.
But some protesters wanted more activism. Marc Dreyfors, a leader in the Forest Foundation, an environmental group in the Triangle area, said he was worried about the apathy in young people today.
Dreyfors drove UNC and N.C. State University students to the protest, and neither of the 45-passenger buses were full. He said there were 22 students on one bus, and 27 students on the other.
But the protest featured people of all ages.
Anna Behnke, age 11, marched with her mother, Sarah Behnke, to protest coal-fired power plants near Mountain Island Lake.
Anna said she was having fun, but: Its hot. Temperatures reached the 90s in Charlotte Sunday.
Tara Beck, a student at N.C. State, said she was also marching for environmental justice.
Anne Bruden, a retired social worker, said she went to segregated schools as a child and was protesting against racism.
Im glad to see a black president, but the system still cant make equality a reality, she said.
Although the city closed off the roads to accommodate for the protest, Bruden said she was not happy with the police presence. Charlotte policemen lined the roads to prevent protesters from leaving the cleared street.
I dont appreciate my tax dollars going to repress a peoples rally, she said.
Immigration was also a popular topic at the protest. People held up butterfly signs that read, migration is a human right.
Alex Cruz said he emigrated from Mexico but has lived in North Carolina for 15 years. He said he was dissatisfied with Obamas policies on deportations.
Were not supporting Obama (in this election), he said. At least Im not.
But most of the protesters did not have an alternative in mind to Obama or Romney.
It doesnt matter if theyre Republican or Democrat, they all want to mess up our country, said unemployed New York activist Anthony Robledo.

You can’t fix stupid and Lewis certainly is.........
You can’t fix stupid and Lewis certainly is.........
But ... but ... but ... according to the DNC chairperson, the Democratic Party is TOTALLY united, unlike the GOP.
Then he should know which party was opposing him. What a dumbass.
this idiot seems to not know history much like most blacks today and why the hell doesn’t the GOP play on this and nform the lack community and churches abot queer marriage, their agenda who was against their civil rights, how queers are sing the black civil rights and think they’re the same, who was for slavery, KKK.
Also maybe it is time for the north east to go on it;s merry way and leave us and then take idiots like Lewis with them,
Fed up with idiots on the left or those who say the Dems are not left wing enough .
Then there was a poor girl aged 11 on this protest against coal plants, I guess mummy hasn;t told her where she get her power from to light the house, etc
Even Obama and Gov Perdue have “joked” about it. When Obama said this, the La Raza crowd chanted “Yes we can”.
Columnists at the NY Times have fantacized about having a Chinese-type system.
A one-party state is exactly what the left wants.
Bauman is reacting to Lewis with his lacrimal glands, surely not with his brain.
Lewis is long past his prime and has morphed into a race hustler of the Al Sharpton-Jesse Jackson type. Two years ago he falsely accused a Tea Party demonstrator of using the "N" word against him in front of the Capitol building. Anyone who concocts such an allegation out of thin air is nothing but a loathsome character.
The Democrats are getting crap their pants scared this election . Barack Obama has done more to harm race relations & screw the economy up in literally 3 years & change than all our nations enemies could do if they tried.
Please see my post # 24.
And possibly- has been charged by others to say these things because he can do so with impunity.
Lewis is a commie loon. If anyone is taking away our freedom, it’s his messiah, Barry.
Lewis is a commie loon. If anyone is taking away our freedom, it’s his messiah, Barry.
Whatever credibility and honor he had was lost long ago, especially after his rant on the House floor comparing the GOP to Nazis.
“Dey’re comin’ fo do po, dey’re comin’ fo da ederly, dey’re comin’ for do chidrun !”
More likely, "dey's comin' ta repo da Caddy, dey's comin' to repo da big screen".
Just throwing this out there after having 50 plus years of seeing how so many of the old Civil Rights “icons” really think
Is it any wonder they had detractors?
I mean....we treat those who opposed them as Nazis except a few like Magnus and WFB.....
And ignore how screwed up so many of the “heroes” were.....only a handful have proved to not be Charlatans
Why sure, there, Sparky. All ya'll, now, yell together for... no specific issue. THAT will get everybody's attention, and CHANGE things! Hope and change for.... soemthing... I guess.
Truly, these morons have become caricatures of themselves.
And the Civil Rights Act was a great thing by whose definition?
Magnus...Buckley...and Goldwater all opposed
Northern GOP and non Southern Dems were neither cultural conservatives..together with LBJ they laid the seeds for what has killed us
Nothing to celebrate about that.....there is a reason genuine conservatives opposed those initiatives
This would be the same brilliant John Lewis that made the claim that sharks still follow the routes of slave ships of the 1700’s.
His call for “non-violent revolution” is just code for “burn, loot, and assault” — just as the “civil rights” leaders’ were in the 1960s.
He's just another example of "our" "representatives"....
Another example of the need for TERM LIMITS.
We term limit the POTUS....we need to TERM LIMIT all of them.
Just code for “kill whitey”.
Thanks for the ping!
What he means by "non-violent revolution" is probably "transformative change" under Obama to a leftist dictatorship, with the burning, looting, and assault preferably not necessary. That "revolotion" would be accomplished by leftist control of all branches of the federal government and the bureaucracy supporting it.
In the 1960s, there were certainly some respectable civil rights leaders whose goals were more modest and who unequivocally denounced violence. But there were others like Bobby Seale and Stokely Carmichael and Eldridge Cleaver who had no qualms about igniting a military revolution along the lines of the Castro revolution in Cuba.
“to ensure justice and freedom for Americans, including same-sex couples who want to marry, for years to come.
Keep standing up, sticking up and sticking out and get involved and create a nonviolent revolution here in America, he said.”
Stand up, stick up, stick out, and keep vasseline handy.
This is code for “invade Nevada!”
These smelly cretins are already knocking on my door.
It gives me great pleasure to tell them to get off my lawn.
You mean, the Dems have a code book, too? Will Chris Matthews show us a photograph of it?
"You don't want to follow John Lewis giving a speech," California Democratic Party Chairman John Burton joked as he introduced the next speaker.
Truer words were never spoken! Anywho, I *think* I read the entire article but I must have missed the part were Lewis said,
"The Tea Baggers SPIT ON ME again!"
(I wonder when it was the last time he told the actual truth.)
To be characterized a racist by the likes of John Lewis is a compliment of the highest order because it means all their rational ideas, if any, have been exhausted and name calling remains their last defense.
