If you parse the AP story carefully, is says that ‘Donovan had said that there were no weapons on board.’ There’s no time qualification on that; I’ll give them that there were no weapons on board when the statement was made. Were there weapons when the truck was stolen? That isn’t clear. And if you want to parse a bit more, they don’t say that there were no weapons on board, only that Donovan SAID that there were no weapons on board.

And, of course, we know that the government would never lie to us.

I imagine the conversation might have gone something like this: "We will be returning Biden in time for his speech at the DNC unless you deliver $10 million in unmarked bills, nothing smaller than $50's to a location we will disclose later."

Maybe the thieves wanted to use it for an ACORN project selling hotdogs out of one side of the truck, while having beds in the ruck and prostitutes or entertainers as they called them, getting clients on the other side of the truck ala the movie starring Dan Ackroid, Dr. Detroit. Had the Secret Service not found the truck, Biden maybe could have also collected from the insurance and used the cash proceeds to help the Obama campaign.
