ABC reporter Arlette Saenz reported for The Note on Joe Biden’s speech Sunday in the Green Bay area, including this statement: "In Afghanistan, we have lost 1,980 fallen angels as of yesterday, and I’m precise because every single one of those lives deserves to be recognized. Wrong: The U.S. death toll in Afghanistan at the end of August was 2,101.
Biden somehow subtracted from the Defense Department count, ignoring three civilian casualties and 118 soldiers who died elsewhere after medical evaluation. Did they not deserve to be recognized?
Saenz led with Biden attacking Paul Ryan for failing to admit in his convention speech that he was a member of the Simpson-Bowles deficit commission.
She also missed Biden’s strange tangent about the Green Bay Packers at the beginning of the speech, where he claimed his Catholic high school teachers in Wilmington, Delaware – from the Norbertine religious order originating from the Green Bay area – taught that Vince Lombardi was included in the Sign of the Cross and the twelve Apostles were Packer greats. Then he added to this picture of Packer idolatry at a Catholic school, "I’m not kidding!"
"We always started homeroom with a prayer in the Catholic schools. And in our school it would go ‘In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost and Vince Lombardi, and it would go from there,’" he said.
"I tell ya, homeroom in the fall at Archmere Academy was a lot different than any other time of the year. That’s when we learned the names of the twelve Apostles – Bart Starr, Paul Hornung, Jimmy Taylor, Max McGee, Boyd Dowler, Ray Nitschke, Willie Davis, Herb Adderly, Don Chandler, you get the point. That’s all we heard about, man! You think I’m kidding? I’m not kidding!"

It seems the schedule each day when him and Obama receive the daily briefing isn’t being read by Biden. Cr@p half the day is gone by the time they get it and he probably has been in the White House beer stash at that point.
He has 1980 on the brain, I’m sure all of the Obamas do. That was a bad year for unbridled, inept, and silly (but dangerous)liberalism. It looks like 2012 will mirror that year..

Unless Biden was a super super senior his stories about Lombardi and homeroom is another FDR on TV moment. Biden was born in Nov of 42 and would have been 18 in Nov 1960. Even if that had been his senior year Lombardi’s Packers lost to van Brocklin’s Eagles that year and the Lombardi legend had yet to be born. And given the proximity of Biden’s home to Philly his schoolmates would have been Eagles’ fans. In 1960 Lombardi and the Packer legend were in the future and Don Chandler didn’t join them until 65 when Biden would have been 25 and hopefully out of high school.
No mention that the overwhelming majority of those deaths are under Obama. This article is from june of 2011

It was found today, but sadly, Biden’s brain has not!
Last night I had dinner with a young man who served in Afghanistan..He told me the government does not support that war or they would be talking about it. He said it would be different if we supported it but we dont so what are we there for. I agree. Oug guys are getting killed for nothing. I hope you all noticed how happy the men standing behind Obama were when he gave his speech last week to get face time on tv.
I also agree with that young man and sympathize very much.-
It’s funny, I watched that speech and he was not greeted with the total silence the story said. The men lacked the enthusiasm that they did for President Bush, but it wasn’t as bad as some suggest.
There was some hooting for him, and it was more of a bored silence when the speech got long winded and Obama was talking policy.
I am so sad for our men and women over there. Maybe we should just bring them home tomorrow.
