RALEIGH A Raleigh-based group devoted to reducing the potential for voter fraud presented the N.C. Board of Elections on Friday with a list of nearly 30,000 names of dead people statewide who are still registered to vote.

The Voter Integrity Project compiled the list after obtaining death records from the state Department of Public Health from 2002 to March 31 and comparing them to the voter rolls.

“Mainly, what we’re concerned about is the potential [for fraud],” said project director Jay DeLancy. “Since there is no voter ID law in North Carolina, anybody can walk in and claim to be anyone else.”

The Voter Integrity Project describes itself as a nonpartisan group aimed at clean, fair elections. It supports requiring photo ID to vote, which Republicans typically support and Democrats typically oppose."

I am SHOCKED!

I plan on printing this off and putting on a co-workers desk.

She assures me that there is very little voter fraud and the id laws are unnecessry.

Only lib in my office. If she didn’t do a decent job, she would be gone. She is actually a pretty brave soul.

Look for the Obama administration to file a court action to stop the removal of the deceased people from the voter lists.

Well, if you are going to make us do the math, here it is.

2,123,390
- 2,109,698
13,692

Should be very easy to compare dates of death, with their last recorded vote. The number that voted post after death should be easy to establish.

Dead people got rights too. I know of a dead guy collected a SS check for years so a dead man that can sign a check should be allowed to vote too.

People need to know that when a family member passes away it’s up to them to remove that person from the voter rolls. At least that’s the way it is right now in our state. When my dad passed away, my mom went to the election board in our town and had them take him off.

It’s not that easy. When I told the local county elections office where we used to live in Florida that our father had died, and I called in for 6 years in a row, they kept insisting that they were not allowed to just take someone’s word for it, but needed an actual death certificate mailed in. The only provision they have is to make someone “inactive status” after not voting for at least two general elections (i.e. a 6-year cycle). I refrained from mailing in such a certificate since I wanted to track how many years it would take. And since it was a Republican heading the office, I had no fear of someone voting in his name.

We went by there with a death certificate. I can’t remember if we had to leave a copy or if they just made a copy but yes you do have to have proof.

One can easily check voter history on NC web sites. Given the effort already taken to compare registrations and deaths, this would be a simple next step. Since they didn't report on voting activity I'd bet that they checked, didn't find any irregularities.

Dead people should be denied the right to vote. However the unborn should definitely be allowed to vote seing as they are the ones who will be paying for all the programs Obama instituted. Maybe that is why the Dems are Pro-abortion.
