Fears Rising, Spaniards Pull Out Their Cash and Get Out of Spain
The New York Times ^ | 9/3/2012 | Landon Thomas, Jr.

It is, Julio Vildosola concedes, a very big bet.

After working six years as a senior executive for a multinational payroll-processing company in Barcelona, Spain, Mr. Vildosola is cutting his professional and financial ties with his troubled homeland. He has moved his family to a village near Cambridge, England, where he will take the reins at a small software company, and he has transferred his savings from Spanish banks to British banks.

“The macro situation in Spain is getting worse and worse,” Mr. Vildosola, 38, said last week just hours before boarding a plane to London with his wife and two small children. “There is just too much risk. Spain is going to be next after Greece, and I just don’t want to end up holding devalued pesetas.”

Is this the Spanish version of "Going Galt"? Europe is imploding as we speak, and the current administration wants us to emulate them.

38 days to go before the theatrical release of "Atlas Shrugged, Part II".

The problem is... there is no where safe to run to, since the US is going down also.

We are all screwed because Obama destroyed the world.

Problem with running is that eventually you run out of places to run to.

Farewell and adieu unto you Spanish ladies,
Farewell and adieu to you ladies of Spain;
For it’s we’ve received orders for to sail for old England,
But we hope very soon we shall see you again.

This could be bad news too. How many people vote for Socialism so they can have a free ride, only to leave when the Ponzi Scheme collapses? We see it all the time in the US with Northeastern Socialists moving into once conservative, stable states and turning them into unsustainable Workers’ Paradises.

Don't forget the Left Coast Libs...I've seen an unhealthy number move into Texas in recent years.

Reality sets in when these families learn that their kids are at least a year behind in school. I'll never forget when my sister started seeing the light 15 years ago.

We had just moved to the Metroplex, and she visited us a week before school started. She saw the new elementary school my two oldest children were to attend, and spoke to the principal and a couple of teachers.

She returned home to Oakland to find the district didn't have enough money for desks for the students. When she told school officials what she saw, and asked uncomfortable questions of the administrators, they responded by saying "you must be talking about a white bread district."

She responded with a tart "my niece and nephew are Hispanic, and over 50 different languages are spoken in that school. I'm not buying your BS anymore."

And thus began the path of a new conservative.

It happened to California, the State that first elected Reagan.

This is not happening because of Obama, although he takes delight in being there to kick it over the cliff. This has been building since the advent of the welfare state and the entitlement culture and the idea that we can spend money we don’t have.

Those aren't NE Socialists moving in ~ haven't been for 20 years. Virtually all of California's growth in recent years has consisted of East Asian immigrants and Latin American illegal aliens.

I"ve never seen a good reason to move there ~ doesn't rain enough, winters aren't cold enough, you changed languages from English to Spanish, beaches are crowded, surfing beaches are dangerous, housing is too expensive, salaries are too low, cars are overtaxed and over-regulated, too hilly, too dusty, ,........., just all sorts of things ~ and, NO HURRICANES, although I saw three (Count'em, 1, 2, 3) tornadoes from a hilltop in Vista overlooking Oceanside ~ which means there can be hope for the climate ~ maybe!

Let's see a 4' snow in Riverside County eh ~ then we can talk.

It’s all going to come down sooner or later

It will come down sooner if the incumbent is re-elected.

It will come down later if Romney is elected.

The cake has been baked: over 100 million Americans are now receiving sustenance from the federal government, not including SS or Medicare recipients.

Ahem. I was born in California when the population was below 10 million. After WWII, most that settled here did so because they came through during the Pacific War, including many Southern blacks brought to work in the shipyards. Subsequent to that group, was the big influx of Northeasterners in the 60s and 70s. It was those people who converted this State into a host for Marxist parasites.

The Asians & Hispanics came later and for separate reasons. It was only the latter who came interested in entitlements. The culture had changed long before.

Let's see a 4' snow in Riverside County eh ~ then we can talk.

Happens every year.

Our great grandparents, our grand parents, our parents, you and me all destroyed the world when they/we listened to the siren song of the Marxists calling themselves progressives singing the song of “government knows best”.

It started 100 years ago and we kept voting in politicians that told us sweet lies. Vote for us and you can live out of the pockets of your neighbor. Government can offer you security, just let us have some of your paycheck before you spend it unwisely. We will see that you don’t starve in your old age.

It seemed so sensible and so easy. They kept their promises! The end of the track where the it stops at a cliff was so far away. We couldn’t see that far.

You asked for four. The San Jacinto Mountains easily get more than that every year.
