Obama: I give myself an “incomplete” on the economy (Grade Deflation)
Hotair ^ | 09/04/2012 | Ed Morrissey

Posted on 09/04/2012 7:51:11 AM PDT by SeekAndFind

Barack Obama spoke to KKTV in Colorado Springs last night, which didn't ask the tougher question of the week --- are we better off than we were four years ago? --- but did ask Obama to grade his performance on the economy. Obama gave himself an incomplete, which as BuzzFeed notes is the same grade Obama gave himself in 2010 and 2011:

CLICK ABOVE LINK FOR THE VIDEO

Incomplete? Maybe Professor Obama doesn't realize this, but report cards come out pretty soon. We're not going to let him stay after school for extra credit at this point. Obama already flunked his midterms, so unless he's got a better argument than a demand for an extension, he's likely to get expelled for academic inadequacy.

Of course, Obama's not doing much worse than his surrogates in defending his economic record. National Journal's Jill Lawrence marvels at just how badly Democrats booted the “better off” question, even though it has been asked in every presidential election cycle for 32 years:

Democrats start their convention on Tuesday in Charlotte dogged by the unforced errors of not one but three top Obama advisers and allies who muffed a fundamental question that’s been utterly predictable ever since Ronald Reagan asked it during his campaign against President Carter more than 30 years ago.

The Obama campaign is scrambling to regain its footing, and party strategists predict that the Sunday-show flubs will be forgotten by week’s end. “Speeches by Clinton and Obama will be just what the doctor ordered,” said veteran communications strategist Doug Hattaway, referring to the former president, who is slotted for Wednesday night, and the current one, who will accept the nomination on Thursday.

But the display on TV had to be less than reassuring for Democrats, particularly since two of those who struggled with the question—senior White House adviser David Plouffe and chief campaign strategist David Axelrod—would theoretically be the coaches preparing top-tier surrogates such [as] Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley, who answered “No” on Sunday when asked if the country is doing better than it was four years ago.

Democrats tell Lawrence that no one will remember the “better off” answers by the end of the week. If they truly think that, they’re in bigger trouble than they realize. That’s going to be the core question of this election, and Republicans will make sure that they are focusing directly on that point for the next two months.

I give him an I too. I for incompetent. Seen the manufacturing data? 2 months in a row of contraction. Seems 0 has managed to crash the economy again.

No Barack, while your goal of ruining the American economy may not be complete, the term is ended, and you are fired!

Your anti-American views, driven by your anti-colonial ideology, are now transparent.

Your intent has NEVER been to “fix” our economy, but, rather to “fundamentally transform America”, away from exceptional ism and self-reliance, and into a mediocre, socialist state.

An incomplete? What is this, a President requesting a remedial course in governing at the nation’s expense? This experiment in affirmative action is over.

Seen from Obama’s warped perspective, claiming an ‘incomplete’ grade is no more egregious than voting “present”.

He has gotten away with that and countless other evasions, why shouldn’t he get away with this?

What does he mean by incomplete? He is really saying, “That’s right, I haven’t completely destroyed it YET! Since I couldn’t get “cap and trade” passed legislatively, I’ve got some work to do using the EPA. Give me one more term and I’ll make sure that the evil capitalist free trade system is COMPLETELY destroyed!”

Yet, 40% of our electorate will vote for him to “protect” their “free” government handouts!

As a professor, I find that students requesting an “incomplete” rarely ever do any work in the extended time allowed. Understand that “incomplete” is, unless there exists unusual mitigating circumstances (ex.: a death in the family the day before the final exam) AND a clear offered plan to do the brief remaining work in short order, an outright F with a brief reprieve for the purpose of exhausting all excuses. Students who do next to no work during the semester and ask for an “incomplete” with no plan for completion do not get a free semester to improve the grade from F; they’ll get a two week extension gratis, but never manage to do in days what they had months for (and for good reason). Note too that my students get constant updates on their grade status; those facing an F were well warned.

That the Obama is giving himself an incomplete means, at this point with the “semester” nearly over, that he is facing and admitting to an F; unless he has a clear plan for completion of his assigned tasks in the next two months AND works very very hard, the grade assignment will be automatic.

BTW: those who do fail and re-take the class rarely pass the second time around. In my observation, only those overwhelmed by other life circumstances the first time sometimes manage to refocus and succeed with that second chance. Those who fail from flagrant neglect never change their ways, and fail exactly the same way again - though this time they sometimes become more desperate and cheat in remarkable (and still failing) ways.

Obama Has Signed 923 Executive Orders in 40 Months

Posted on 11 Jun 2012 @ 10:31 by Sard

THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION: Obama has signed 923 Executive Orders in 40 months!

What did Congress do in those 40 months?

-EXECUTIVE ORDER 10990 allows the government to take over all modes of transportation and control of highways and seaports.

-EXECUTIVE ORDER 10995 allows the government to seize and control the communication media.

-EXECUTIVE ORDER 10997 allows the government to take over all electrical power, gas, petroleum, fuels and minerals.

-EXECUTIVE ORDER 10998 allows the government to take over all food resources and farms.

-EXECUTIVE ORDER 11000 allows the government to mobilize civilians into work brigades under government supervision.

-EXECUTIVE ORDER 11001 allows the government to take over all health, education and welfare functions.

-EXECUTIVE ORDER 11002 designates theof all persons. Postmaster General to operate a national registration

-EXECUTIVE ORDER 11003 allows the government to take over all airports and aircraft, including commercial aircraft.

-EXECUTIVE ORDER 11004 allows the Housing and Finance Authority to relocate communities, build new housing with public funds, designate areas to be abandoned, and establish new locations for populations.

-EXECUTIVE ORDER 11005 allows the government to take over railroads, inland waterways and public storage facilities.

-EXECUTIVE ORDER 11049 assigns emergency preparedness function to federal departments and agencies, consolidating 21 operative Executive Orders issued over a fifteen year period.

-EXECUTIVE ORDER 11051 specifies the responsibility of the Office of Emergency Planning and gives authorization to put all Executive Orders into effect in times of increased international tensions and economic or financial crisis.

-EXECUTIVE ORDER 11310 grants authority to the Department of Justice to enforce the plans set out in Executive Orders, to institute industrial support, to establish judicial and legislative liaison, to control all aliens, to operate penal and correctional institutions, and to advise and assist the President.

-EXECUTIVE ORDER 11921 allows the Federal Emergency Preparedness Agency to develop plans to establish control over the mechanisms of production and distribution, of energy sources, wages, salaries, credit and the flow of money in U.S. financial institution in any undefined national emergency. It also provides that when a state of emergency is declared by the President, Congress cannot review the action for six months.

Feel free to verify the “executive orders” at will… and these are just the major ones…

I wish it were only 40% who get government handouts. America is now in the position where a full 50% get federal government handouts, with more dependant on different levels of government for either direct jobs or contracts. It’s actually amazing that Republicans win anything, given the large majority of people who are tied to various levels of government. If not for voter apathy, the Dems would have super majorities in both the House and Senate and would win every presidential election in a landslide. Obama won in 2008 because he was able to generate a higher than usual turnout among blacks, hispanics and the young. If he loses, it will be because those groups return to their historical levels of turnout.

As William Hurt said in “The Big Chill”, “I’m just not into that completion thing.”

Let a McConnell, Boehner or Romney launch an attack on Obama, saying “Incomplete? He’s never been into that completion thing, including his college classes and a US Senate term.”

Leave Obama to provide his college transcripts...
