Asked by Parade magazine, "What do you hope to accomplish in your second term?” First Lady Michelle Obama said she wants to "impact the nature of food in grocery stores" with the aim of cutting sugar, fat and salt.

“With 'Lets Move!,' our goal is to end the problem of childhood obesity in a generation,” Mrs. Obama said. “And while we’ve seen some very profound cultural shifts, we still have communities that don’t have access to affordable and healthy foods. We still need to find a way to impact the nature of food in grocery stores, in terms of sugar, fat, and salt.”

"Soybeans make an excellent substitute for bread, meat, cereals and coffee--and if all of us were compelled to adopt soybeans as your staple diet, it would solve the national food crisis and make it possible to feed more people."

You can’t go down the snack aisle until you get everything on your list. You will be receiving your list from the First Directorate of Dietary Compliance. Those who violate this list three times will be disqualified from Mandatory Healthcare. Remember the little White card that Clinton held up? It will be scanned at the register.

[ The problem is not that grocery stores do not stock healthy food (not that they have any obligation to) but that many consumers prefer to buy unhealthy food.

So what she is calling for is restricting consumer freedoms and free enterprise in general. ]

I buy healthy generic food ALL the time, the problem is you can buy oreo cookies, coke and junk food with food stamps/ebt. If they started restricting the buying power fo the EBT cards in certain states the “social justice” crowd would squeal like the stuck pigs they are.

I say they are reaping what they sow with their welfare state, they want to end obesity in the poor, end the welfare state...

And all stupid criop subsidies.

Maybe Mrs. Obama will elicit the advise of N. Korea’s Kim Jong II on how to slim down the USA’s obese populace? I’ll bet that Michelle won’t give up her BBQ and her other food vices? She’ll say do as I say and not as I do, peons!

This by now is familiar rhetoric:
“End (fill in the blank) this or that “by a generation”.
Biggest problems are:
1.They won’t get “a chance” to do this, because they’re not going to be re-elected.
2. EVERYTHING ELSE about their multiple agendas will
PERFECT childhood obesity FOR a generation.

Controlling what is sold in supermarkets is apparently more effective than letting the free market adapt to consumer demand.

Every grocery store has healthy foods being sold at a discount to the usually more expensive unhealthy foods being sold there.

Define "healthy foods" vs. "unhealthy foods" because I suspect you're fooling yourself. What's your per-person budget?

I wonder what form this will take.

Will she push to nationalize the packaged food industry? Does she demand new requirements, rather than guidelines that allows the consumer to make decisions? Subsides? Price-fixing? Will she prefer salt, fat and sugar surtaxes?

It's not hard to imagine sugar and other items being controlled by Michelle Obama. After all, she has a model to follow:

Amen Brother! If Barry wins a second term and Mocchie goes after “unhealthy” food...you will find me hold up in a Krispy Kreme!! LOL.

I’m not sure how they would go about Making people eat healthy. I’m guessing their would be some new mandatory registration system set up by HHS if you want to buy food with Salt,Fat, or extra calories you have to be authorized by your health plan. (Try ordering a Meat Lovers pizza in the Future)
