The owners of a new Indian clothing store called Hitler say they will rename it after receiving complaints.
.
.
His co-owner, Manish Chandani, told AFP news agency they had never intended to glorify Hitler.

"I was not aware of Hitler being responsible for the killings of six million people before the shop's inauguration. This time I will choose a non-controversial name."

Mr Chandani says the shop's name was a tribute to his grandfather who was nicknamed Hitler because he was "very strict".

It’s entirely possible the guy had no idea about the meaning of the swastika, here in the west. The swastika is an ancient, and widespread symbol. It predates the Nazis by thousands of years. Swastikas are still a common Hindu and Buddhist symbol.

Similarly, it’s possible that he wasn’t aware that Hitler was a genocidal maniac. Consider how many in the west aren’t aware that Mao, Stalin, Pol Pot, etc. etc were genocidal maniacs.

The swastika is a Hindu symbol and is in widespread use. Native Americans also use the swastika. Nazis hijacked the symbol.

Speaking of people not being aware of history, I recently met a 17-year-old who didn’t know who JFK was. She belongs on that Tonight Show skit where people are asked simple questions.

He wasn't. He was responsible for killing 12-14 million people.

Are you really trying to claim they combined it with the name Hitler but do not know the history of Nazi’s and the Holocaust? Really?

Are you making a claim that I am making a claim?

The Eurocentrists here are having a fit, I see. The so-called “World” Wars didn’t touch most of the countries on the planet, while our beloved Holocaust is, I would bet, unknown, and rightly so, to most Cambodians, about whose genocide we couldn’t care less (or for the usual suspects: we could care less!) Things and events we treasure in the West don’t resonate the same everywhere, if they resonate at all, D’UH!

Maybe this community will be asked to change its name:

Swastika, Ontario

Swastika is a small community founded in 1908 around a mining site in Northern Ontario, Canada, and today within the municipal boundaries of Kirkland Lake, Ontario.[1]

They chose a Nazi symbol to dot the “i” and claim they didn’t know about Hitler? Yeah, good luck selling that spin.

They only sell the finest in girlymen's clothing...

Antisemitism is unknown in India. Jews haven’t been persecuted in the 2000 years that they have lived there. The Swastika is an Indian word as is “Aryan”, both from Sanskrit. “Swastika” is used as a religious symbol(of good luck) in 3 ancient Indian religions - Hinduism, Buddhism & Jainism. (btw, one of India’s ancient names was Aryavarta - the abode of the Aryans)

This guy’s argument is plausible. Hitler does not evoke the same strong reaction in India as in the west. Also true that Hitler is used to describe anyone with a dictatorial attitude. It’s really stupid for Europeans & Americans jumping up & imposing their sense of their history onto Indians or anyone else outside the western/Islamic hemisphere especially considering that the normal refrain of antisemitism in such cases would be a laughable allegation on a Hindu as this man certainly is.

“Codswallop.”

What is? You have anything to back that up or merely don’t like facts interfering with your opinion?
