Regardless of whether the unemployment rate rises or falls on Friday when new monthly figures are released, the White House will continue to make the same pitch to voters: the economy is moving in the right direction.
If you look at what the president has been saying for every jobs number for the past year or so, its almost exactly the same, White House communications director Dan Pfeiffer said today at a POLITICO luncheon here on the economy. Were moving in the right direction; were creating jobs.
No matter what the number is, thats how well approach it, he siad.
The administration is effectively putting on a brave face as it prepares for the possibility that Americans might learn of an increase in the unemployment rate just hours after they hear President Barack Obama deliver a speech on Thursday accepting his partys nomination for another four years in the White House.
Though he acknowledged that the unemployment rate is an important indicator of the economys health, Pfeiffer cast the month-to-month movement in the number as a Washington fascination that doesnt resonate with all Americans.
To the average person, the economy is a very personal thing, he said. People will look at the array of things happening.

Okay, all you people out of work....please note that the white house is not concerned about jobs numbers.
This election should be over and shouldn’t even be close. If dicktator wins or it’s close, this country is whacked.
The only job Obama is worried about is his.
Employment is growing so slowly, everyone knows this "recovery" is the worst EVER.
And they already know what is in the report.
People who believe that any signs of growth in the economy are the result of Obama’s policies are like spectators at a swimming pool, watching a strong swimmer who’s able to tread water even with a cement block around his neck and who give the cement block credit for keeping him afloat.
A recession is when your neighbor loses his job.
A depression is when you lose your job.
A recovery is when 0bama loses his job!
WORST RECESSION EVER!
The facts are not going to get in the way of their spin - no matter what.
They don’t care. They are happy to see food stamp rolls increase though, that is how they measure success.
Because it's working as intended.
I guess Obama is an African-American Alfred E.Newman???????
How much of that uptick is people leaving the work force or working less than desired?
Of course they’re not worried. If the jobs number is down (I’m talking about the new jobs), it’s statistical noise; if it’s up, its proof that O’s policies are working and the recovery is proceeding apace. Repeat after me: 4.6 million jobs created!
Goebbels was a political pioneer!
Translation: "Vote Obama in for life, and we GUARANTEE that the economy will improve some time in the next 50 years! He has a tough job on his hands, but just you wait!"
They are lowering expectations. Watch, the jobs report will be BETTER than expected...
If unemployment stays the same or goes up I’d like to see Romney use some of that money to carpetbomb the airwaves with that stat to lessen 0bama’s convention bounce.
No job? No worry. We’re doing fine........
Of course they aren’t worried - They are still living pretty good.
They eat lobster and Kobe steaks and we pay for it.
They vacation wherever and whenever they want on the taxpayers dime.
We pay for them and 100 or so of their friends to constantly party out at the White House.
Some other ‘friends’ are setting them up with a $35 million dollar home in Hawaii.
It’s good to be the King and Queen.
Why worry? Da know da got the Obama “stash”
Trying to get booted here.
And too bad we can't force presidents to survive on the mid level medium of that national average of salaries. The top of the bell curve, as it were.
Would love to see what would happen to gas prices and union gouging and the raising of taxes, then. lol
Hell no they’re not worried about the report, there are far more important issues facing our president, like the fact that the prime golfing season is nearly at an end, and women don’t seem to be buying BOs election-time BS!
Other than that, things are hunky-dory!
The economy will recover when Obama is OUT of his job.
