The California Senate voted last week to pass a bill allowing non-physicians to perform aspiration abortions. Senate Bill 623, introduced by Christine Kehoe (D-San Diego), extends a program run by the University of California, San Francisco, in which nurse practitioners, midwives and physicians assistants are trained to perform abortions.

"This bill was originally created to regulate boat paint," said Dana Cody, Executive Director of the Life Legal Defense Foundation. "Now it's regulating and destroying human lives."

Ms. Kehoe claimed that the bill was necessary to fill gaps in the availability of abortion caused by the shortage of doctors in parts of the state.

Wow, first the state drives doctors out of state with their horrible tort system, then they give non-doctors the right to do abortions by amending a bill to regulate boat paint. Truth really is stranger than fiction.

When they say NO limits on abortion, they are now legalizing the back alley abortion.

I have a coat hanger and a vacuum cleaner. Maybe I should go to California and go in business.

Plug and Play, Do it yourself- it’s legal!

We wouldn’t want anyone to be punished with a baby.

Veterinarian schools have been more selective than Medical Schools, largely because of specious malpractice suits. Doctors who specialize in abortions are probably the dregs of the profession anyway. Nurse practitioners, and physicians assistants might be an improvement.

Why, if abortion is all about a womans right to choose what she does with her body, is it not all right for a woman to choose to allow a man access to her body for money ?

If she can kill her baby shouldn’t she also have “the right” to be able to charge a man (or woman for that matter) an “access fee” to have sex with her ?

Somebody who is heard should ask some of the pro-choice people this question.

Only the first step. The SEIU will lobby to expand this to include unionized child care professionals, high school science teachers, pharmacy clerks, CNAs, etc. As long as they are unionized, dues paid up, and take the two hour Coat Hanger and Vacuum Cleaner abortion-is-easy course, I’m sure that they will be practicing soon....hey, that’s why there are publicly financed hospital emergency rooms in the first place.

Fine with me, I think the Physician does not need to be involved in unethical behavior. If the Medical Profession had not been taken over by liberals and PC mentality we would still have a hippocratic oath that forbid abortion. But, also the leaders in the AMA changed our oath and now they are hypocrites. They state it is unethical for a physician to be present at a murderers execution but perfectly ethical to perform abortions with the same hands that deliver babies. Had Physicians stood up an said NO we would not be in the situation we are today. As a physician my profession is shameful.
