Michelle Obama: ‘Barack Knows The American Dream Because He’s Lived It’ By Holly Bailey
CHARLOTTE—First Lady Michelle Obama never once mentioned Mitt Romney's name. But in her speech before the Democratic National Convention speech Monday night, she offered a dramatic contrast between her husband, Barack Obama, and his Republican opponent, insisting he understands the struggles of average Americans because he's lived through those tough times, too.
"Barack knows the American Dream because he's lived it, and he wants everyone in this country to have that same opportunity, no matter who we are, or where we're from, or what we look like, or who we love," Michelle Obama said. "He believes that when you've worked hard, and done well, and walked through that doorway of opportunity, you do not slam it shut behind you. You reach back, and you give other folks the same chances that helped you succeed."
It was a speech meant to bolster her husband's legislative accomplishments — and it did, as the first lady touted the president's push for health care reform, the auto industry bailout and efforts to keep down student loan interest rates.
But not unlike Ann Romney's speech on behalf of her husband at last week's Republican National Convention, Michelle Obama also sought to humanize the president, and to remind voters of the working class background she and her husband came from. With tears in her eyes, she spoke of her father, a pump operator at a Chicago water plant, and how her husband was raised by a single mother and by his grandparents.

He was raised by a step-father of means in a foreign country after his father abandoned him.
Then shipped off to Hawaii to live with grandparents of means, to go to the best schools and colleges.
Michelle’s speech was a total ripoff of Ann Romney’s speech.
Mich even stole from Paul Ryan’s tender account of caring for his grandmother by making references to hubby’s grandmother.
I hope the speechwriters got paid twice because I’m sure they had to rip up their first speech and write this sugar sweet second speech right after the Rep Convention. Also, her facial expressions and mannerisms were patterned exactly after Ann Romney, very soft and feminine.

A complete plagerism of Ann Romney’s speech right down to the car with the holes in the door. Suprised she didn’t say she used an ironing board for a table. How pathetic.

So proud of America are they that the girls wrapped themselves in the flag of South Africa when they attended the Olympics...a friend sent a photo of them, Michelle was holding a bouquet of flowers and the girls wrapped in the national flag of another country...

It seems to me, that the Democrats’ approach is basically going to be, “Yeah, the economy sucks, but we’re really great people.”
That wasn’t the Olympics, it was a trip to South Africa, met at the airport, the arrival party draped the flags on the kids and gave her flowers.

I thought it was a good speech.... heck that is THE speech I would want my wife to give about me, as a man, husband and father.
The most effective speech is not one that is political in nature but the exact opposite. I found myself moved. Now as you all know, I don’t care at all for the man’s politics but any one who looks at his wife and kids - you have to say he does love them and cares about his family.
I was expecting an angry speech, something jarring and anti-male like the one Ann Romney gave last week. This felt - I don’t know, I find found myself liking it a lot, I don’t know why, it was just a feel-good speech!
And I would have been turned off by a partisan attack so I thought this was a very effective way to reintroduce the President to the American people. Any man who finds himself married, get your wife to say she knows your character!
That is always better than any slashing attacks on your opponents.
I always love it when Michelle praises Obama’s maternal grandmother, who harbored racist thoughts according to Barry’s own autobiography.
It was interesting how the Obama campaign wanted no one to interview his grandmother during the 2008 campaign and the press obliged. After Mrs. Dunham died, her memorial service was postponed for a length of time because the Obamas could not be bothered to change their schedules to attend.
Given her outlandish manner of dress and strange appearance, one has to wonder how many drag queens and female impersonators have modeled themselves after the current “First Lady.”
Yup... the Democrats really have nothing to say about their record, so they’ll say, aww shucks, we’re nice guys and why don’t you try us again.
I don’t mind good manners but in this case its not enough. The President has good intentions but he hasn’t fixed the economy and 23 million people are out of work. I like his family.
But as Clint Eastwood reminded us in a funny speech he gave last week, all the feel good rhetoric doesn’t make up for the Empty Chair Syndrome. Promises are not enough. We’ve heard them before.
Results count and I’m sorry Mr. President but as much as we don’t want to - you have to be fired for the good of the country.
A President should know that as much as any one who works for a boss and in this case his boss is the American people.
I’m not a fan of Mittens but when it comes to speeches I call them as I see ‘em. I think this is the Democrats “Checkers” speech - you know, the guy, his kids and his dog. It worked for Richard Nixon but somehow between the both of us, as moving as this is, I don’t think it’ll work for Obama. Now I am sure Michelle loves him and true love is always sweet but at the end of the day, he still has to defend his record.
Which makes him the worst President this country has ever had. And in business, no one is sentimental, you either do the job or get shown the door. And in this tough Obamaconomy, the American people can’t give the President the benefit of the doubt.
To quote Alec Baldwin in Glengarry, Glen Ross:

A First Lady can’t be political so its entirely appropriate to say what she said tonight.
I disagree with little of it - I too am an American! But we are not judging Barack Obama by his being a good family man.
We are judging him by his record as a statesman and leader. And there is precious little good to be said about it. And unlike Alec Baldwin, I won’t curse my elders.
The American people voted for hope and change four years ago. They did NOT vote for an exploding debt, rising taxes, the government takeover of national health care, leading from behind abroad, endless apologies to our enemies and presiding over the decline of the greatest country on earth.
None of us thought we would see this four years ago. And for all of our sakes, Obama has simply got to go!

I thought that was interesting as well. Especially the line where he recalled his grandmother wishing above all things before she died that his mom would have a child (i.e. get pregnant). No mention of a father that I could tell.

The exception that proves the rule. Hillary just stuck herself in matters people didn’t pick her to decide and that’s why she was hated so much!
We don’t have Co-Presidents in this country for a good reason. Like I said, I find little to fault in the speech.
But a country cannot be saved through beautiful words. Even all the poets in the world cannot help Obama where he really needs it the most.
So if he’s still the same man she married with the same ideals, I take it he is still a Marxist.
What a bunch of bull crap but what else could one expect from a woman who openly expressed her hate for the USA. Her husband was given all the goodies of life by hook or crook or mostly by other people. The Obama’s still hate the USA of our Founders. The whole truth will be known/out someday,the sooner the better.

As far as the other stuff: This was the exact same speech she has given DOZENS of times. All the stuff about her dad with MS, the college loans, the community organizer crap and Barack not wanting to get a job that earned money (yeah, that’s believable)—we heard it all before in 2008. Nothing new. Yawn. She acts like she’s the only one to ever get married and have kids. And a lot of her lines started with “how she felt” or “how it would affect her family”. Get over yourself!
The Pres__ent is a Communist Sympathizer who uses Alinsky tactics and abuses the limits of his Constituional Powers to promote his Progressive Ideology.
With all due respect, Obama has no “good intentions”. His belief system is exactly the opposite of everything we as Conservatives hold dear. In fact, Obama has a visceral HATRED of all Conservatives, Republicans and anyone else who disagrees with him. His Wife is everything he is and more. Being Non Political is not part of their shtick.
