Bill Clinton claimed Republicans were responsible for America's $16 trillion national debt on Tuesday night - opening up debate on a subject President Barack Obama has done his best to avoid.
Addressing the Arkansas delegation before his prime-time convention speech tonight, the former US president drew attention to the giant national debt clock that Republicans had at their convention.
He asked: ‘You see that debt clock?’ A man in the audience shouted back: ‘They built it!’ Clinton responded, to loud cheers: ‘Yeah, they built it. They built it.’

If he really said that then he is sabotaging Obama’s campaign in a very subtle way. Well.. he is there to do it regardless.

I’ve been saying all along that the reason why the Dems don’t give a damn about the national debt is that they have had no intentions of taking responsibility for any of it.
They would just blame the Republicans for letting it happen.
I’d say that there’s a high probablity that Clinton’s words, and the response, were scripted.

16 trillion has been spent on the war on poverty to no noticable effect... we wouldn’t even have a national debt if it weren’t that fatting the bottoms of America’s most lazy.

So, the way I figure it, ANYTHING that comes out of the mouth of Bill Clinton, anytime, any place, is said with the FULL intent of his wife taking over the White House in 2016.
Ironically, the MORE ludicrous he sounds at the convention, the MORE of a chance he has to accomplish that goal.
It will be subtle, not dramatic. We’ll have to parse through his words for it, but mark my words, he will NOT change anybody’s mind on Obama, unless it is to vote against him.
