On the day that Jerusalem-born, Academy Award-winning actress Natalie Portman is due to deliver a "surprise" address to the Democratic National Convention (DNC) in Charlotte, NC, delegates roundly booed party leaders who amended the Democrat platform to include support for Jerusalem as Israel's capital city.
Los Angeles mayor Antonio Villaraigosa failed--three times in a row--to earn the support of a two-thirds majority of delegates to amend the platform to include Jerusalem and a reference to "God," which had been omitted. In the end, he merely deemed that the convention had passed the motion--though it clearly had not--and adopted the amendments as written, at which point angry delegates booed, shouted, and shook their heads in anger.

The list, Ping
Let me know if you would like to be on or off the ping list
Mitt should announce that immediagely upon being sworn in, he will move the US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. The circus at the DNC will be huge...it will have legs..Also, the Congress, in 1996, with overwhelming Dem support, passed a law ordering that to happen, but Clinton refused to implement it..That would also turn the spotlight on Bill, and maybe, just maybe...have a considerable number of Jews vote GOP
The Democrats have no right to call the Republican convention a dog and pony show. they have had nothing but photo op speakers from day 1. at least our speakers were elected officials
for the most part.
She might want to come out and not mention the J-word
Maybe “boo-the-Jew” will be the strategy tonight.
I have a feeling that she is all about abortion and that is it well, except for maybe gay marriage. Her support for Israel is likely not existent or minimal at best.
It would also turn the spotlight on GWB as he DID make that promise and never followed through.
Abortion may not be regarded as bad a homosexuality in the Tannakh (the Old Testament), but it is regarded as something in violation of the Torah nonetheless.
That would be all she wrote.
Portman is a self-hating Jew—she wants Jerusalem booed.
Why hasn’t it been moved there decades ago?
Never could figure that out.....
Has Huma seen this pic?
If youd like to be on or off, please FR mail me.
As I'll note on all these threads, good thing it was a voice vote, cause I don't think that was 2/3. The boos were a nice touch.
All of which misses the point, why were G-d and Jerusalem taken out? Is that why they were concerned about having The One accept the nomination outdoors, lightening and all?
Valid point...I’m not defending W..but one could make the case that post 9/11 it wasn’t a top priority...
It was with Israel. And he waived it every year he was in office...even as he was telling us islam was a religion of peace. And more.
I don’t care who you are, now THAT’S funny!
Looks like ol Bill mustve turned up the A/C in that room.
No. The reference had been removed.
