Today Sen. Claire McCaskill visited Northwest Missouri State University to talk about student loans.
She started the talk off in spectacular fashion, telling the students if it wasn't for the benevolence of the Federal Government, only the rich would go to college:

When she mentioned she's had three 17 year old sons but wouldn't loan them money, I had to laugh at of the irony of it. She wouldn't loan them her money, but she'll gladly loan them yours.
And let's not forget about the logical fallacy you just heard. It's a popular one for leftists:
What Claire posited was a false dilemma. Her premise is, either the federal government loans money to go to college, or only rich kids can afford it.
It refuses to take market forces into consideration.
I attempted to point this out...

She is going to lose this election LOL
By “rich kids” I take it that she means those OWS retards.
Well, when only the rich went to college, there was no such thing as african American studies. I could live with that.
why must everyone go to college?? many work their way thru college
Well then, we had better get the economy going so those poor student wannabe's can become rich so they can go to college!
Exactly.
Federal intervention has pretty much ensured a lifetime of debt for the college-bound.
The one thing that might save Todd Akin: His opponent might just be a bigger idiot than he is.
Yeah, funny about that. I graduated from the University of Minnesota in the late 70’s, maxing out on credits, after doing the first two years at a private college. Then I did grad school at the U of M as well.
What did I owe when I finished? Nothing. I paid as I went, working several part time jobs. I borrowed nothing. That was before the big fed intervention.
Hmmmmm. I wonder what the problem is now?
This lady is determined to lose this race when it was handed to her on a silver platter, isn’t she?
That’s odd, I worked my way through a BA and an MBA with no federal help and no loans. I worked two jobs and lived in a slum for the BA. Did a bit better for the MBA but paid for it myself.
As part of the Obamacare law, you can’t even choose your own lender anymore for the loans. It was nationalized.
Corporate scholarships are an excellent alternative to tax dollars.
I dated a woman who was sponsored by Hershey foods and then did her internship with them as a sociologist developing marketing methods.
Untrue. Penn is picking up my student’s whole bill. Thank you private sector!! (That’s successful Americans to you, Mr President.)
“she mentioned she’s had three 17 year old sons but wouldn’t loan them money,...”
So typical of a big time liberal. First blame the rich (productive achievers, capital sources), say government does it better and then be sure the “benefit” you are in favor of is on someone else’s dime.
She is probably well off (as you can’t be a politician in D.C. for long without being cut into a lot of good deals), yet she is comfortable with her kids getting taxpayer funded college loans.
Also, the ready availability of cheap student loans allows colleges to keep on raising tuition instead of looking for cost savings in their budgets. Government intervention in any market situation makes the prices paid rise or out of sync with the product value.
Not now
People want to know why the housing is really dead.
Student Debt
A business associate used to work for Claire as an accountant. He tells me she was real straight with the dollars and cents as an auditor.
Her sad performance is just more evidence that liberals find it too easy to adopt an alternative reality of their own design when it advances their ideological agenda.
Claire doesn’t care to recall just where the Federal Government got the money to be so generous with. In case of 40% of the dollars being spent in this fiscal year, those dollars come from the future because the money was borrowed, on Claire’s vote. She is a freeloader of the worse sort.
Absolutely. Just look at your friendly neighborhood hospital for proof.
