Krauthammer Scorches Clinton's Speech: "A Swing And A Miss" (video)
RealClearPolitics ^ | September 5, 2012 | Ian Schwartz

Charles Krauthammer reacts to former President Bill Clinton's address to the 2012 Democratic National Convention: "I think it was a giant swing ask a miss. Mighty Casey and Bill Clinton is a natural, he struck out on this. I don't think it would move a needle whatsoever. Look, it had all the classic Clinton elements; it was engaging, it was humorous. In some cases, it was generous and there are more mentions of the Bushes than I heard in three days in Tampa, but on the other hand it was also vintage Clinton. In that it was sprawling, undisciplined and truly self-indulgent. This is one of the strangest nomination speeches I think ever given; it was kind of an amalgam between a State of the Union address, a policy seminar and what sounded to me like a campaign speech for a third Clinton term."

I don’t think Slick’s heart was really in it. He could care less if Barry gets re-elected. He was there trying to pick up chicks.

I disagree that it was a swing and a miss.

No one tells lies as well as Clinton, and he was in good form.

It may not move the needle much in the election overall, but I would expect it played very well among the Democratic base and the mainstream media (but I repeat myself).

Excellent summary.

There were too many lies. I kept flipping back to the ball game. The best part was he kept Obama waiting behind the curtain for 50 minutes, lol.

I have not for one second believed that Clinton will vote for this idiot.. not one second. Clinton while gravely flawed was a talented politician, he knows this fool is an idiot and won’t personally give him his vote no matter what he says publicly.

Obama is an insult to any talented politician. Voting for Obama when politics is your trade and you are good at it would be like voting to give an tony award to the kid who played the tree in your 3rd graders school play.

Clinton sees right through this joke, and I don’t care what he says in public, he won’t vote for this fool

Thought slick had a bad heart. He will never go away and neither will Carter. They are like the energizer bunny. BO clearly has the goods on Bill Clinton or there would be no fake lovefest like this.

Close...but what I think he was really there to do is to promote that great politician, the visionary, policy-guru, accomplished executive, and lovable crowd favorite...

Bill Clinton.

By giving what everyone will agree was the greatest speech of the convention, he will have upstaged Obama, and by refreshing the memory of everything from his down-home charm and revamped apparence to Fleetwood Mac, he will make every delegate think Barack Obama is a poor second, and what they really want is more Bill Clinton (which they can’t have).

In one speech he pumped-up the perception of his greatness (and by extension, that of Hillary and Chelsea too) and he did his appointed task of nominating Obama in a way that really kept Bill Clinton front and center. “OK Barry - you’re nominated, but I did it in a way that was all about MEEEE!”

Democrats already have buyers remorse over Obama, now they will go home with a bitter reminder of what they hoped Obama would have turned-out to be.

Tonight’s speech was the first official speech of the Hillary! 2016 campaign.

Clinton showed what he thinks of Obama by making him stand in the wings while Clinton went 20 minutes long on his speech.

That’s contempt. Pure and simple.

But, why would Clinton even lend his name to this half filled auditorium full of complete and utter losers? I have never been inclined to be a Democrat. Even at a young age, I'd see or hear their speeches and I'd instinctively know --not my cup of tea. Party of low expectations and losers.

But, I don't ever remember their get togethers being such flagrantly obvious freak shows.
