Illegal Immigrant Makes History, Addresses Democratic Convention

Hector Becerra September 5, 2012 CHARLOTTE, N.C. — It was a short speech, but when Benita Veliz stepped up to the lectern at the Democratic National Convention, she made history. The 27-year-old from San Antonio became the first illegal immigrant to address a national political convention.

“Like so many Americans of all races and backgrounds, I was brought here as a child,” she told the crowd Wednesday night. “I’ve been here ever since.”

Veliz, an advocate for the Dream Act — legislation that would pave the way for illegal immigrants to legal residency and citizenship if they go to college or perform military service — talked of being a high-achieving student who graduated early from Jefferson High School, becoming a National Merit Scholar, before graduating from St. Mary’s University.

“I graduated as a valedictorian of my high school class at the age of 16, and I went on to earn a double major at the age of 20,” Veliz said. “I know I have something to contribute to my economy and my country. I just feel as American as any of my friends or neighbors.”

With those kinds of smarts & a tax-payer funded education you are ready to deliver in YOUR COUNTRY.

Open and Mocking Defiance of Our Laws

Democrat politicians have been doing that quite frequently for a while now. Their supreme potentate was the highlighted speaker tonight.

We really cannot expect to be taken seriously when we overlook all of the sealed records of our own President. For all we know he himself is an illegal (I personally don’t think he’s illegal - but there’s at least as much evidence that shows he is as there is evidence that shows he is not.)

It’s okay for a possible illegal to live in the White House but not in Nogales, Arizona?

Overlooking these things are only bound to backfire on us all.

Look at the angry democrats outside the convention and think about the original birther, Hillary Clinton. Many of her supporters are still angry about what happened to her.

What if Obama loses so badly that it’s impossible for them to steal the election? What if they refuse to accept Romney as their President because the candidate they were stuck with was not eligible to be President. Could they not call for new elections sometime after November 6th or even after jan 20th?

We all know they could care less about illegals living in America. It would be just their excuse. Like Florida was for Bush. If they find a way to topple the republican and put in their candidate, they would surely demand new elections.

Just occurred to me that this convention is the Wellstone Memorial writ large. Their hatred and insanity is on display for all to see.

I'm curious, and I address this to GW Bush, also:

Which federal laws can I ignore?

Georgie, you slimy bag of purchased pus, you let 16,000,000 ILLEGAL ALIENS waltz over the border. Then, claimed you couldn't handle it.

I want the right to break federal laws, too, without penalty...

Don't you people who work hard and obey the law feel like chumps?

Now go pay your taxes - illegal aliens need the money. :P

I recall seeing these parody schedules for the Democrat convention ... you know “ritual flag burning”, “Ted Kennedy proposes a toast” etc.

This is more bizarre than the parody.

They boo’d God, put illegal aliens up on a pedestal, and had their best liar serve more whoppers than Burger King. Phew!

Article IV Section 4: The President shall protect the states from invasion.

If 20 to 35 million illegal squatters isn’t an invasion, then they need to take the word out of the dictionary.

Am I the only one who is sick of this stupidity?

She's from Texas, well grew up in Texas. We can't blame the Democrats for this one - it was under Republicans that the Texas Dream Act was passed and it was a Republican who signed it. Lest we forget, it was a Texan, who ran for President this time around, that said these words:

As a compassionate state, we know that for our children to succeed, they must not only be healthy, but educated. The future leaders of our two nations are learning their fractions and their ABC’s in classrooms all along this border. Immigrants from around the world are being taught in Texas classrooms, and our history is rich with examples of new citizens who have made great contributions. We must say to every Texas child learning in a Texas classroom, “we don’t care where you come from, but where you are going, and we are going to do everything we can to help you get there.” And that vision must include the children of undocumented workers. That’s why Texas took the national lead in allowing such deserving young minds to attend a Texas college at a resident rate. Those young minds are a part of a new generation of leaders, the doors of higher education must be open to them. The message is simple: educacion es el futuro, y si se puede.

I thought it was a mistake when Perry the Republicans supported it, but I never dreamed that it would rear its ugly head at the DNC Convention like this.

Sorry but you are wrong.
Those other children came with parents that did not sneak acroos a border but openly ame to America to be part of America as new citizens.
