RNC Speakers Undermine "Racist Code"
NRO ^ | 9/5/2012 | Deroy Murdock

If Republican operatives truly are brilliant enough to use secret code to convince white bigots to pull the elephant lever in November, they should have been smart enough to control the podium at their convention in Tampa, Fla. As a black man, the Republicans’ racial code never penetrated my ears. However, my eyes worked just fine. And what I repeatedly saw were minority faces on my TV.

The racist dog whistles must have gone silent even for Labradors when a black woman and former secretary of state named Condoleezza Rice addressed the convention for nearly half an hour in prime time Wednesday night, just before vice-presidential nominee Paul Ryan gave his acceptance speech, arguably Tampa’s finest. Similarly, and also in prime time, a Hispanic senator named Marco Rubio (R., Fla) introduced the Republican party’s presidential standard bearer, Mitt Romney, while 30 million people tuned in.

If the Republican party really is angling for the David Duke vote, closely associating its running mates with a prominent black American and a high-profile Hispanic seems like a rather convoluted sales pitch.

This racist will say nothing about the San Antonio mayor whose family are members in the Hispanic Ku Klux Klan (La Raza Unida). If PhonyCons were not so want for Illegal Alien Amnesty...the GOP could be ramming this down the DNC throats

What an absolute & clueless moron. Fans of David Duke would never vote Republican. Except if Duke himself was running on the Republican ticket.

Some Freepers recently hit a home run, coming up with an unanswerable comeback for this.

A liberal attacks a position as being an obvious racist dog whistle. Usually, it is something that never would have entered your mind as being racially based. Well...

If you’re the only one that can hear the dog whistle, then YOU’RE THE DOG!

Huh? Deroy Murdock is hardly an absolute and clueless moron. He's not saying David Duke fans would vote GOP. He's saying that the Leftist racebaiters are accusing the GOP of appealing to David Duke fans, and that the accusation doesn't make sense because the GOP is showcasing minorities in real leadership positions, which they wouldn't do if they were really trying to do that.

Dem spokesman: Murdock is wrong. The fact that Republicans allow non-Caucasian people to speak at the convention proves they're racists. They're just trying to cover up their racism. If they didn't have any non-Caucasian people speaking, that would be racist as well. Because all Republicans are racists (probably Klan members), and they don't like to see non-Caucasians speaking.
Some other person: Well then, if they're all racists and they don't like to see any non-white people speak at the racist white people's convention, wouldn't having so many non-whites speak make them not racists?
Dem: No, it would prove they're racists.
Op: how would it prove they're racists.
Dem: Because I said so.
OP:Well, that's sure a convincing argument. (snicker)
