Obama tells Americans: You are 'absolutely better off' than you were four years ago

A defiant President Barack Obama today told Americans that they are ‘absolutely better off’ than they were when he was sworn into office in January 2009.

The question ‘are you better off than you were four years ago’, famously posed by Ronald Reagan in 1980, has dogged the Obama campaign over the past week as aides have responded ‘no, but’ or dodged the issue entirely.

‘We are absolutely better off than we were when I was sworn in and we had 800,000 jobs beoinmg lost in a month,’ he said in an interview with NBC12 in Virginia.

The Romney campaign has been goading Obama on the issue, printing 'Are you better off?' signs and stickers and making it their main line of attack during the Democratic convention.

Have they really thought this strategy through? I know the MSM is on their side, but all people have to do is exist to see its a lie

Oh, I see. The word “absolutely” makes it true. Now I understand.

A repub would be CRUCIFIED for this. Remember McCain merely saying that “the fundamentals of the Amer. economy are strong,” back when unemployment was 5 or 6%? He was butchered for it.

300% inflation in your energy costs, personal income down 10%, Unemployment stuck over 8% for 42 months, 1/3 increase in the national debt in the last 4 years, 40% across the board inflation in the prices on groceries etc etc etc

You most certainly are NOT better off. HE and his cronies may be, you and your family are not.

And the chocolate ration has been raised from 5 grams last month to 4 grams this month. Doubleplusgood!

I think they've decided to write off the normal, productive people and go for broke. They've expanded the dependent class as much as they can in four years, they're going to try to ride that demographic to victory. They'll get huge help from fraud, from the default media, and from useful idiots in academia.

It's the only strategy they've got.

I guess I'm just a financial hypochondriac and malaise inflicted.

Let’s see.... 4 years ago I was making 30% more than I am today. I have lost 2 jobs due to cutbacks since Obama came to office (and started 2 new ones). My personal debt went from only a Mortgage to a line of credit and one maxed credit card. I have spent time on unemployment and started a business since Obama has been in office just to survive. My retirement plan is has $20K less in it than when Obama took office. My current employer provided health insurance premiums have gone up since Obama was annointed. My industry is boasting a 15% unemployment rate locally and 12% nationally (Construction at last check).

I’d say NO! Things are about 20% worse for me and my family today than when Obama and his CHUME GANG took over as King of America.

“.....and if you don't agree with me I'll have you audited, or worse. I am the one you've been waiting for. How could you forget that?”

Even if nothing changed legislatively, I want to see this guy lose just so he has to deal with the self-searching reality that the rest of us do on a daily basis. Arrogance mixed with incompetence, all propped-up by a society that has been brainwashed to think that any skin color different that white automatically makes one either a saint or a victim.

Obama tells Americans: You are ‘absolutely better off’ than you were four years ago”

Really? You have to TELL us we are?

It is either obvious or we are not better off!
we are not stupid. We can look all around us and see the conditions that are nowhere near what they were in actual good times.

We can look back on the 50s, the 80’s, the late 90s and the 2000s to know what good times were like.

Is anyone looking at today and feeling economically secure as a matter of fact? Do you feel like if you lost your job today, finding a new one would just be a couple of weeks and a few cover letters? Are you able to put real money away in savings? Are you able to pay off your debts? Will your kids be able to get a decent job after college or are they still in your basement? Can you retire? Is any business expanding rapidly in your town?

Quite fooling yourself. This is NOT better off. This is entrenched malaise. This is no recovery. This is a fraud from the top down. A presidential clown trying to make you believe the shadow puppet on the wall is a real rabbit when we all know it’s just a light trick.

And oddly enough, I remember Clinton saying something many years ago in a speech:

“Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me.”

Try to avoid the 2nd part, America.

Agreed. Romney’s peeps need to started hitting way harder than they are now. What’s they use of so much money if you’re not going to get a pitbull like grip on Obama’s throat and not let go from now until election day.
