Obama: the real radical (Will Finally Gets It)
WaPo ^ | 9/5/2012 | George Will

Four years ago, Barack Obama was America’s Rorschach test, upon whom voters could project their disparate yearnings. To govern, however, is to choose, and now his choices have clarified him. He is a conviction politician determined to complete the progressive project of emancipating government from the Founders’ constraining premises, a project Woodrow Wilson embarked on 100 Novembers ago.

[....]

Progress, as progressives understand it, means advancing away from, up from, something. But from what?

From the Constitution’s constricting anachronisms. In 1912, Wilson said, “The history of liberty is the history of the limitation of governmental power.” But as Kesler notes, Wilson never said the future of liberty consisted of such limitation.

Instead, he said, “every means . . . by which society may be perfected through the instrumentality of government” should be used so that “individual rights can be fitly adjusted and harmonized with public duties.” Rights “adjusted and harmonized” by government necessarily are defined and apportioned by it. Wilson, the first transformative progressive, called this the “New Freedom.” The old kind was the Founders’ kind — government existing to “secure” natural rights (see the Declaration) that preexist government. Wilson thought this had become an impediment to progress. The pedigree of Obama’s thought runs straight to Wilson.

I think it was last week that ( now blacklisted) actor Jon Voigt called Obama a communist, and a dictator who has trashed the Constitution. THAT is GUTS, and not a solitary elected/unelected Republican who is in the public eye, dares to call him anything but a “liberal” or a “progressive” I wonder how many Americans out of a hundred can define “progressivism” ?

Likely only those Americans who watched or watch Glenn Beck.

Jon Voigt is a hero! Just like Andrew Breitbart. Clint Eastwood, too.

Our cowardly Republicans don’t get it. Call the Marxist a Marxist, then define Marxism and call out his associates present and from his past. Easy-peasy.

Yep, all three.

” Our cowardly Republicans don’t get it. Call the Marxist a Marxist, then define Marxism and call out his associates present and from his past. Easy-peasy.”

It is very easy. Makes you wonder if our team WANTS to lose.
Stay in the minority, keep silent, lay low, and collect a fat paycheck, and outrageous pension. Hmmm....Boehner & McConnell come to mind : )

...he debt we owe to Glenn Beck
for repeatedly harping on the parallels between Obammy & Woody.

***
I second that! He opened my eyes about a lot of this stuff.

Yeah, he already has plenty of money, so at least he probably can’t be bought. It will be a battle to push him to the right, but his business ability might stop the federal bleeding.

“Surely, no government can be expected to foster its own subversion, but in a democracy such a right is vested in the people (i.e. in the majority of the people).

We have a Republic, not a democracy. Our Founders understood the threat of the tyranny of the majority, which is why we have the Constitution. Unfortuantely, the Left believes in a "living Constitution," which means they can say they can define what it means. Instead of limiting government, they want to use it to increase government power over us and define what our rights are.

But the mere fact that Will is now calling 0bama a “radical” is something. That is was allowed in the pages of the Washington Compost is even more astonishing.

Yeah, a radical like Wilson, LBJ, and FDR. I had it with Will a few years ago when I heard him speak at a CPAC dinner where he lectured us on how we had to accept amnesty. The attendees booed and shouted at him, which stopped Will in his tracks. He looked like a deer in the headlights. He couldn't understand our reaction, which was astounding to us. Somehow, the Rule of Law is an alien concept to Will.

Will is an inside the beltway type who identifies with the political elite who know what is best for us. He lives in a bubble divorced from reality.

Just finished a really good article, the crux of which was, Obama, and China are involved in a plan to drive the American dollar down so far that the Yaun, will become the currency used around the world, and will replace the Dollar as the world's currency.

One good thing about the Great Recession is that no won with a straight face can argue that there's a shortage of low skilled labor. Deporting illegals should be just a start. Repealing the Kennedy - Javits Immigration Act of 1965 should be next.

Either George’s been soft pedaling (lying) or he’s a dim bulb. It is obvious Obummer is a radical Muslim sympathizer.

Wait for the second term when he has more “flexibility”, Georgey boy! We could have used you when McCain was telling everyone to shut up about it in the last election. But you are a good ole boy. You let the country down big time.

An improving influence, are we, on our GOP-e clerisy? Okay, I'll take it.

Now let's do some Originalism.

Either George’s been soft pedaling (lying) or he’s a dim bulb.

Maybe his commentary reflects the "limits of the possible" at his principal employer's place of business, or in the social set Will (likes to) move in.

If so, then apparently the PRC's opinion of Obama may be beginning to move at last .... a movement enabled by his repeated demonstrations of political weakness.

"Bill Clinton has long been identified with the Third Way -- and I might add, the 1960s Marxist-Alinsky campus radicals (psycho spoiled brats) that took over the traditional, patriotic Democratic Party in the 1970s. Obama is of course an ideological issue of 1960s Marxist-Alinsky radicals."

You can find Hilderbeast's College thesis online (someone OCRed it):

of the requirements for the Bachelor of Arts
degree under the Special Honors Program,

You can also find Moochelle Robinson's (Obama) thesis called "PRINCETON-EDUCATED BLACKS AND THE BLACK COMMUNITY"

Thank you. I remember Hillary's praise of Alinsky when she was First Lady and her activism a generation ago.

I have a pdf copy of "PRINCETON-EDUCATED BLACKS AND THE BLACK COMMUNITY"

Thanks again.

I was slow getting through college -- long enough that I remember the 1960s Marxist-Alinsky radical, spoiled brats in some classes.

Bump! Of course Glenn Beck fans are well-schooled in the history of progressivism, renamed liberalism and now back to progressivism which oddly does not appear appear as a valid
word in the spell-checker!

Don’t worry I added it to my spell-checker. ;-)
