President Barack Obama tops Gov. Mitt Romney, his Republican challenger, 51 - 44 percent among New Jersey likely voters, who say the president will do a better job on Medicare and health care while Romney will do a better job on the economy, according to a Quinnipiac University poll released today.

Democratic incumbent U.S. Sen. Robert Menendez leads State Sen. Joseph Kyrillos, his Republican challenger, 50 - 40 percent in this first likely voter survey.

Barack Obama has lost ground in New Jersey. It would be great if he were to actually lose it, though I’d be surprised if it happened. In the Senate race, Bob Menendez continues to post less-than-stellar popularity.

So much for Chris Christie’s pull.

We need New Jersey as a replacement for Virginia which is likely to go to Obama thanks to Goode.

Quinnipiac shows NO break out or even total number of the sample size. Methodology is EVERYTHING in polling. They are notabley leftist and historically lousy in their results. Try a real poll like something from Rasmussen

QU is a well documented Dem party push poll outfit .

The Orlando Slantinal headline was a QU poll showing Scott losing to the Dem by 6 pts !
Scott won by One pt .

Believe absolutely nothing pushed by this outfit.

Nothing is going to change in New Jersey this election cycle. The Democrats will win this state easily.

Jersey is always a teaser. It looks close and winnable but in the end it breaks your heart. I'd class PA in the same boat. We'd be better off trying to win back VA and NC and OH. Without those we're done. I think we have IN back on the good side. We'd better pick off NH and maybe IA, because I have no confidence in being able to get CO and NV. NV is especially a puzzle, given the unemployment there. If those idiots go for Obumwad again, they deserve all the misery he will bring them.

Don’t forget, Michigan just came into play. I think we can win it if we really go after Obongo there.

Obama won Jersey by 16 in 2008. Just polling New Jersey is an indication that Obama has trouble. I would not spend one thin dime there but Obama is losing support across the board and neither Billy Jeff, Ben Bernanke nor Prince Obama himself cando a damn thing about it.

0bama is losing around 9 points of his support in NJ. If he loses that same level of support it puts PA in play.

Since this is a Dem-loaded Quinnipiac poll, you would have to classify this state as “leans Democrat” instead of solidly Democrat.

Quinnipiac is Clinton’s pollsters. They always overweight the Democrats. But, still, I’d rather the GOP not go after the fool’s gold that is New Jersey. Between the Mob and the Unions, winning there is not worth the media money that would need to be spent.

Ditto. The voters in those two states like to do a little kubuki dance about flirting with GOP presidential candidates, but by election day, are decidedly back on their knees in supplication to the democrat machine.

In other news, water is wet and grass is green. If Romney wins New Jersey, it’s a 350 electoral vote landslide. What this does show is that the 2008 map is toast and this is going to be more of an election like 2000 and 2004.

Not good for the empty chair President.

I lived in NJ for 30 years and agree it is not worth spending any money there. Now I live in NYC. I’m going to campaign for Romney in PA this Sunday and Monday. I couldn’t bring myself to campaign for McLame, and Romney was not my choice at all, but a future with more 0bama is terrifying. And fear must be converted to constructive action.

Who the hell seriously ever thought Chris Christie could snap his fingers and make the state vote for other Republicans? That’s an absurd notion. No Governor can do that. I’d say he’s a slight positive factor.

Hope Goode doesn’t snatch the Virginia win from Romney.

I don’t believe he can win without picking up VA’s electors...

He's certainly not going to snatch them from Obama. If the GOP depends on Virginia they should do it at their own peril. Better to prepare for the worst and work/hope for the best.

Romney can’t win without Virginia.

It’s that simple.

(Same with Ohio — loose either one — and he loses)

While NJ is liberal, I have seen Quinniapiac off around 15 points in a poll, just before a general election.
