On Thursday, 2008 Libertarian vice-presidential nominee Wayne Allyn Root announced that he was resigning from his positions within the Libertarian Party and joining the Republican Party. In the public letter he wrote, Root explains that his decision is much like those of previous Libertarian Party candidates, including David Koch (VP, 1980) and Ron Paul (President, 1988); both of whom left the LP to become influential Republicans.

Barr/Root was an abomination. Neither was particularly “libertarian”. Come to think of it, the way they ran? Neither was particularly “conservative” either...

Root sure has the goods on Obummer. He says he was at Columbia the same time as Obummer and never heard of him back then, and can’t find any of his friends from Columbia that ever heard of the fraud in chief.

I do not know who Root is, will he be another thorn in the side of the GOPe or he is more of the conservative libertarian kind of person.

To add insult to injury, Root announced that he is endorsing Republican nominee Mitt Romney, saying, “I don’t deny that Romney and Ryan aren’t libertarians, but Romney is a pro-business capitalist and Obama is a Marxist-socialist. The economy has been trashed. This is about my kids’ future, it’s about my businesses. There is no hope for America if Obama is re-elected.”

The stampede away from Obama is now a visible dust cloud on the horizon ......

Wayne served as best man when my mom married my (very conservative) stepfather a few years ago. He’ll be an excellent candidate for Senate in 2016.

I’ve heard Wayne Allen Root on several occasions. He was very impressive, & I think he’ll be a good addition to Republican politics. He’s more TEA Party than a lot of TEA Partiers I’ve met. :-)

This will help sway other Libertarians and some independents to NOT help the Hoax-In-Chief, by default, by voting Libertarian or some kind of “independent”.

Why are some Libertarians supporting Mitt Romney? Mitt isn’t a “small government conservative”!

Now if only we can get the Constitution Party jerk off the ballot in Virginia. He stands a good chance of being a spoiler in that state and giving the race to Obama.

If the American people vote for Obama's re-election there is not a snowballs chance in hell there will ever be a small government President elected. Regardless of Romney's past he is running now against big government and that is how he is being potrayed by Obama. Most independents have no clue about conservatives fears about Romney and see him as more conservative than Obama. If they vote for Obama anyway then it's all over for conservatives at the national level.

I think you're putting the cart before the horse - don't beliefs determine votes and not the other way around?

Why would Romney have to worry about losing conservative voters? Something in his record, perhaps?

From the legal dictionary (http://legal-dictionary.thefreedictionary.com/Mitigation+of+Damages):

Mitigation of Damages

The use of reasonable care and diligence in an effort to minimize or avoid injury. Under the mitigation of damages doctrine, a person who has suffered an injury or loss should take reasonable action, where possible, to avoid additional injury or loss. The failure of a plaintiff to take protective steps after suffering an injury or loss can reduce the amount of the plaintiff's recovery. The mitigation of damages doctrine is sometimes called minimization of damages or the doctrine of Avoidable Consequences.

When you nail plywood to your windows or put sandbags around your house prior to a storm, you are technically damaging your house and creating work for yourself (as all this will have to be undone at a later time), but you are preventing the greater damage that would be done by a storm breaking out your windows and flood waters getting into your house.

Voting for Romney is how you protect against the damage a 2nd Obama term would do.

Mitigating damages is smart.
