A class action lawsuit was filed in California this week alleging that the popular In-N-Out burger chain discriminates against people of color.

Yep.
I have noticed that all of the employees at In-N-Out all speak good english. That must be the problem.
No time for the old in-out, love, I’ve just come to read the meter. .....
I have eaten at In-N-Out burgers since the mid-70’s. I have eaten at the ones in So Calif, N Calif, Bakersfield, Calif, South Reno, Nevada & the one in Carson City, Nevada.
I have seen many black workers at these restaurants.
They were cheerful, fast, and very efficient at what they do. I NEVER got any impression that they were being ‘discriminated against’ or unhappy with their jobs.
I have seen many older workers at these restaurants.
IIRC, the one in Auburn, Calif had one of the original In-N-Out workers they ever hired. He was now obviously over 65 & was one of the people who ‘made the place’.
He was fast, cheerful, and didn’t care if he was at the register or cleaning tables & refilling ketchup dispensers. I loved talking to him whenever I was there.
The Double-Double at In-N-Out is the best meal value you can get, IMO. The fries are cit right there & made fresh as you can get.
IMO, this kind of legal action is totally bogus. I sincerely hope that this suit gets thrown out of court.
IIRC, In-N-Out is not a chain-—they are entirely owned by FAMILY members. As the kids grow up & marry, another restaurant gets opened up.
You apply for a position. You don’t get hired. It must be racism.
Are companies required to hire every single black applicant who ever applies for a job? Is that what these lawyers are saying?
That was inevitable.
Well, gee, maybe that means we’re all going to have to have a “Support In’N Out” day ... !!!
This country needs to change at least one thing, which will solve or prevent so many lawsuits - the loser pays winner’s attorney fees and all damages due to the lawsuit!
On my way to Vegas I stopped at one 100% manned by people of color so I think the lawsuit is BS.
Our order was totally screwed up by the way which is NOT typical and the people that were supposed to taking orders were trying to hook up dates instead at the counters.
IMO if this were the reason to not hire certain people I could kind of understand it. SORRY!
I’m sure they have their own personal reasons but you can’t be truthful about it, lest you be called a racist. The behavioral stereotype that emerges comes from years of experience but can’t be taken into consideration due to the fairness doctrine even though from a time, cost, and efficiency standpoint it is the profitable to hire a better candidate or the job. It’s fairness vs reality. There are exceptions to the rule in every case though.
I’ll be the complaintants are not black. They are Mexicans that don’t speak Anglo.
Hear, hear!
I remmber a high school buddy who was working at In 'n Out back in about '78 making $7.25 an hour...good money back then for a fast food place or any other first entry job for that matter.
The times have changed greatly but their burgers are still top notch.
Double Double with grilled onions is still top on my list!
Kind of miss Tommy's though ;(
I can only imagine the sales per square foot at InO compared to say Mikey D or BK. Besides the quality of the food (cost is comparable), the staff and cleanliness is a pure pleasure by comparison.
That Auburn store was a Godsend. I took my family there often.
This is a shakedown. I’m sure they can defend themselves. Disney is legend for not settling lawsuits.
LOL!
It's speak English well. Their burgers taste "good" ;o)
Maybe some day they’ll come to Boise. We got our first Chick-fil-a at BSU last year. Now there are three new Chick-fil-a restaurants under construction.
Stupid libs and their lawsuits!
This isn’t about racism. It is about a shyster who wants a 2013 Mercedes and a family who needs to pay off some bills with enough left over for a dinner.
say...is there some sort of election comin’ up here soon?
“Well, gee, maybe that means were all going to have to have a Support InN Out day ... !!!”
Easy .. I have one or two a week anyway!
This law suit is BS. Just because you are not hired for a job does relate to discrimination.
Another attack by lefties on business owned by committed Christians.
My favorite is the double grilled-cheese, with animal style onions and extra veggies.
That is a good idea.
However, I wonder how long the wait would be?
All the In N Outs I have ever gone to have drive through lines out onto the street, with parking lots full to the max.
Well, I waited two hours for a chicken sandwich, so I wont mind waiting two hours for a double cheese, animal style with extra veggies.
I’ve noticed every In-N-Out I’ve been to is staffed by people of all colors who are obviously not illegal aliens.
Our two oldest have applied at In’n”Out. They haven’t been hired yet. I guess we should sue.
Oops. I live in California and my English is deteriorating. I meant to say “ Se hablan Ingles bien” in English.
Correct. According to wiki, "The current owner is Lynsi Martinez, the only grandchild of founders Harry and Esther Snyder."
There was a crash that killed top execs years ago "The crash took the lives of Snyder, 41, president of the Baldwin Park-based restaurant chain and a well-known Republican activist;...."
And I agree with your comments about the diverse racial make-up of their restaurants. As former southern Cal residents we've eaten at many of their establishments. The employees are always super, and seem to really enjoy working there.
LOL!
This will probably get thrown out of court -- after the company's spent hundreds of thousands (or more) in legal costs.
To paraphrase Shakespeare, "First, disbar all the lawyers." Or, at least, make the system loser-pays.
Now on the flipside, Blake’s Lottaburger in New Mexico is staffed entirely by illegals.
I support In-N-Out fairly regularly as it is. Count me in!
I know a couple things from being a customer at In-N-Out. They hire nice kids who work hard, and at least in the Reno area they start at $8.50 an hour.
I do too. My wife, I, and our two kids once took a road trip from Seattle to Vegas and stopped at several different In-N-Outs on the way. None up in these parts so we look forward to eating there when we can.
This is a whole lot more about the lack of ebonics and spanish than it is about racial makeup.
Affirmative hiring no experience necessary, breathing a must
You nailed it. Must be more to it than is in the article else it would have been tossed out. Right? < /sarcasm >
gee...I wonder why the economy is tanking
LOL, I speak gooder english than they does.
In Arizona, if you aren’t Hispanic or a minority, don’t bother applying for a city or government job, they are entrenched in human resources, so now, it’s a good old boys club for family and friends, whites need not apply. The government has done such a good job at hiring minorities that whites are the ones discriminated against now. Call me a racist, I don’t care, the fact is minorities are doing the opposite of Martin Luther King Jr. now, for they judge others on the color of their skin rather than the content of their character, they also hire that way too, thanks Democrats!
I noticed many other fast food places, and restaurants, have segregated workforces: all black, all asian, all hispanic depending on who did the hiring. Are they sued? Nope.
“The attack on Christian businesses continues.”
Indeed. I told my husband, “they want to hire kids that will give good customer service with a smile and not some full-of-attitude thug from the hood.” I have an In & Out within walking distance and know they employ Blacks.
Back in the 80’s, I stopped at a McDonald’s by the hospital I worked at on the edge of the ghetto. I desperately needed to eat before work. I had to say to the girl taking my order 3 times I couldn’t understand what she was saying. She was saying, “welcome to McDonnald’s, can I take your order.” Never again.
A few years ago I was in California. My husband and I ate at a few places staffed entirely by blacks in a nice area. I frankly don’t like being given dirty looks and attitude when I walk up to a counter to order food. It makes me worried what they’ll do to it. There was very obvious hatred in both instances. Those aren’t people I’d want working for me, regardless what their race was.
In this age and culture, if Blacks aren’t being hired they need to look at themselves first. It’s not Whitey that’s keeping them down.
That's happening nearly every where now.
“Well, I waited two hours for a chicken sandwich, so I wont mind waiting two hours for a double cheese, animal style with extra veggies.”
Xtra Thou on the side?
It is the Jesse Jackson Hussle. Good old fashion shake down perfected in almost every sector of the business/retail world. Also adopted by and sponsored by the democratic party and supported by the unbiased major media outlets world wide.
Personally, I will truly enjoy supporting In & Out Burger by going there everydays for lunch and dinner.
They don’t hire illegal aliens. That is the issue. The “people of color” they are talking about are the people who don’t speak English and don’t have valid ID.
This is not about hiring practices or anything other than payoffs
So, what about the I9’s? I am going to work a temp job where the company was bought out. I had to bring in my info again. The forms require certain items in order to work there legally. Mmmm
One of the best fast food burgers around. I’ve always seen at least 13% (the percentage of blacks in the population) of the employees to be black. Bogus.
I’ve had several Blacks take my order at In-n-Out, and one Chinese guy who couldn’t speak English but who appeared to be refusing to serve me (left and went through the drive in, then brought my food back in to eat it).
So the memo apparently didn’t make it to Texas, if they have a policy against diversity.
For some reason, that's politically correct, but if you say "colored persons" or "colored people," be ready to duck.
