CHICAGO (AP) — U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. has returned to home in Washington after treatment for depression at Mayo Clinic, Jackson's chief of staff in suburban Chicago said Friday.

"He's at home in Washington convalescing with his wife and children," Jackson aide Rick Bryant said. "Let's hope he returns to work on Monday."

Bryant said he's not sure exactly when the Illinois congressman was discharged. Mayo Clinic spokesman Chris Gade referred all questions to Jackson's office.

I hope they didn’t allow him to watch the DNC convention coverage. He’d relapse.

Seriously, though, I wish him a speedy recovery. Depression is no picnic.

My guess is that he is setting up a scam where he can “retire” on full salary and receive “disability” payments as well. Sorry, I don’t trust the family...

It sounds like he’s been terribly ill with it. I wish him well.

He serves a 2 year term at the peoples pleasure. Only a corrupt demorat would take an extended leave of absense and still expect to keep his job.

If he were truly suffering from depression, I would agree. But if he were being treated for drug and/or alcohol abuse do you think he would let the world know or take the lib route and lie?

I don't believe anything that comes from him, his father or any democrat. And I don't believe this.

It’s funny how that depression creeps in the closer you get to having to testify. He can’t help his self from scamming the system. It’s in his genes.

Congress needs to Mandate that ALL HEALTH PROVIDERS notify and report any and all cases where a Public Servant or a Public Employee has used or Abused ANY ILLEGAL SUBSTANCE or Alcohol. Then it should be a FELONY punishable by LIFE IN PRISON for ANY Public Servant or Public Employee to be under the Influence or in Posession of ANY ILLEGAL CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE . They should make it Retroactive, just like they did the Tax Increases a few years ago.

A month and a half in-patient stay for “depression”? Seems a stay like that would repire psychotic breakdown. No, methings Messer Jackson is dodging an indictment and maybe dealing with some substance issues. (And I respect him for sincerely trying to get substance help if he is. A whole lot of people better than him have been biten by that bug. It happens.)
