BISMARCK, N.D. -- Nine North Dakota State University football players were among 15 people formally charged Friday with faking petition signatures in a scandal that blocked two voter initiatives from getting on the November ballot.
The players were among the people hired to gather signatures for two ballot measures. One sought to establish a state fund to promote conservation, environmental and water projects, financed by a share of North Dakota's oil tax collections. The second was aimed at making marijuana use legal for people suffering from chronic pain and debilitating illnesses.

They didn’t bilk that.
I don’t know if their intention was voter fraud or really to defraud the company that paid them to collect signatures.
Does Anyone know the leanings of this petition?
Did the footballers defraud Libs, Neo-Cons...WHO?
Considering those particular propositions I am glad they didn’t make the ballot
I’m not sure. My guess is they wanted to “do something good” and make some money in the process. When they discovered it was actual work, they opted for the easy way.
“Does Anyone know the leanings of this petition?”
There were two - environmental projects and medicinal marijuana. I don’t know for sure that these are lefty initiatives, but I can’t say I remember a similar one in the past that wasn’t. I’ll go with somewhere between left and way left.
