The Party that Obama Un-Built: Where is the next generation of Democrats?
Wall Street Journal ^ | September 7, 2012 | Kimberly Strassel

Julian Castro is no Barack Obama. And for that, Democrats have themselves to blame.

The focus of this week's Democratic convention was President Obama. Lost in the adulation was the diminished state to which he has brought his broader party. Today's Democrats are a shadow of 2008—struggling for re-election, isolated to a handful of states, lacking reform ideas, bereft of a future political bench. It has been a stunning slide...

In 2006, Nancy Pelosi muzzled her liberal inclinations to recruit and elect her "Majority Makers"—a crop of moderate and conservative Democrats who won Republican districts and delivered control of the House for the first time in 14 years...

By 2009, President Obama presided over what could fairly be called a big-tent coalition. The Blue Dog caucus had swelled to 51 members, representing plenty of conservative America. Democrats held the majority of governorships. Mr. Obama had won historic victories in Virginia and North Carolina. The prediction of liberal demographers John Judis and Ruy Teixeira's 2004 book, "The Emerging Democratic Majority"—lasting progressive dominance...

While the party's most vulnerable members aren't in outright mutiny against Mr. Obama, more than two dozen didn't risk attending the convention. In contrast to last week's GOP celebration of reformist GOP governors, the Charlotte podium was largely dominated by activists (Sandra Fluke, Lilly Ledbetter), the liberal congressional faithful (Mrs. Pelosi, Harry Reid), and urban mayors from failing states (Los Angeles's Antonio Villaraigosa, Chicago's Rahm Emanuel).

While the GOP has feted its upcoming stars—including minority governors like New Mexico's Susana Martinez and Louisiana's Bobby Jindal—the president has done little to nurture his down-ballot partners. Where is the next generation of Democrats?

How has he unbuilt the party? Every dang party member is doubling down on worship, and any one of them is more qualified to lead than this twerp was. Hell, they’re tens of millions deep on replacements for this ass.

Lest we get the idea the party is going to change, let’s recall their lineup.

Carter
Mondale
Clinton
Gore
Kerry
Obama

This is like one of those IQ test question where they ask you which number is next.

In this case it’s 0, -5, -10, -15, -20, -25... now which number is next?

Osama Bin Laden is dead, so it’s not as easy as one might think. Whoever it turns out to be, we can rest assured that the next figure will be a -30. It certainly isn’t going to be a positive figure out of the blue.

From the above post Dems won big by recruiting DINOs (Blue Dogs ) and then afterward slowly purging the few that survived the 2010 election.
With Boehner in the House and Obama in the WH Dems seem to have complete control of their members unlike Republicans.

This is interesting.

I didn’t watch either convention in their entirety. But the parts I did watch, I noticed this.

The Pubs had a good mix of young, well spoken, ethnically mixed “up and coming” politicians.

Yeah, they threw McCain in the mix..whatever.

The Dems seemed to rely on their “old white guys and gals” with a few young angry non-politicians or “used to be politicians.”

Although the audiences were very different...I can’t help but wonder if the complexion of things might be changing.

This was a good article. The dems did throw all those blue dogs under the bus.

and why? Well, because of abortion of course.

It’s abortion uber alles with these people and I can barely believe they are tripling down on it now.

Hey ladies! Which would you rather have, an abortion or a j.o.b.?

Its funny that this article emerged. I was thinking this same thing yesterday - where are the rising stars in the Democratic Party? All they had at the convention were has beens for the most part. And zero said it was like watching b&w tv with the Republicans - no, dear leader - its your party that is in the b&w mode.

There are plenty of young guns rising in the Republican party.

47 million foodstamp users

20 million illegals

30 million Obamacare participants coming

Sounds like a whole lot of loyal Dem voters to me.

I did listen to Castro.

He seemed to be the best they had to offer. Putting aside content, he gave a decent speech.

But, ya know what? It’s a big stretch for a mayor of a city in a Republican state to go to national prominence.

Of course crazy things happen...but that would be a stretch, even in the monied world of politics.

“They were fetuses. And now they’re gone.”

Nonsense; they are the anchor babies being born in hospitals across this country, as well as being delivered by midwives down in Mexico, as we speak and post. We’ve been killing our babies for 40 years now, and the Dems are alive & kicking; if anything, the Repubs need to look at their birthrate issues - they are surrendering the country demographically.

There are no “blue dog” Democrats. It's all smoke and mirrors. If there were, they would have stood up to this administration. The reason all but 5 have been kicked out of office was simply because Obama put them in the position of having to expose themselves for what they were when they voted for ObamaCare. Anyone who thinks differently only needs to look at what the Democrats platform really is today. It's not surprising the US Communist Party endorses the Democrats.

This article is a joke. After four years of miserable failure in just about everything, especially youth and young adult employment, Obama is easily still the choice of under-thirty voters by almost a 2-1 ratio. Obviously, the liberal-leftist Dem (or Dim) view of America still holds enormous appeal for America’s yutes.

Castro has been outed by the nationwide coverage about him and his mother, a La Raza activist. He will never win a statewide election in Texas.

He'll have to follow the Henry Cisneros path: mayor, followed by appointments to federal posts in a Democrat administration.

Henry's done well for himself financially, but he hasn't been heard from in years.

Former San Antonio Mayor Henry Cisneros accepted a speaking engagement at a local state university campus during the early Nineties. I was in attendance and recall that he was accompanied by an attractive blonde. The woman was an Anglo.

Sometime later, I realized that the woman was the mayor’s mistress when the scandal broke about Cisneros paying hush money to cover up his long term extramarital affair.

The Next Generation, unlike the denizens of Star Trek fame, are here already. They are the babies that qualify mothers for WICs, they are the dependents that qualify them for SNAP. They qualify their parents, usually parent, for EITC, TANF, Section 8 and so on.

On many of my trips to Walmart, I see three generations of them. Baby, no-baby-daddy, Momma (who nearly always could stand to lose 50 lbs) and dear old grandma (not really old because she had her youngun at 15-16 like her momma did). Grandma is there with the SS cash to buy the liquor and cigarettes....

In my little county of north Georgia, the towns and country roads are littered with the hundreds, maybe a thousands or so, of rental trailers (you can tell them by the dozens of Georgia Rental Inspection Decals affixed to them). Most of these ‘residents’ are the current ‘Generation’ raising the next.

It’s funny but this comment just hit me like a lightening bolt. With today’s economy of Government Entitlements. You don’t need a J.O.B. all you need is to have kids out of wedlock and you’ll be raking in the Dough, EBT Cards, Section 8 Housing, Cash, Free Medical, etc.

That means you you don’t want or need abortion because you need the kids for the Bennies.

On the OTHER hand if you have the J.O.B. you might need the abortions because you can barely afford to feed/cloth/shelter yourself on what is left over after the Government takes their “Fair Share” of your life, (Time/Money/Blood/Sweat/Toil).

“Julian Castro is no Barack Obama.”

Really? They were both reared by Communist parents. Both are Affirmative Action Harvard products. Both believe that government should provide “social justice,” which being interpreted means, “Make Whitey pay for his sins.” They could be twins....or triplets, since Julian already has a twin who is running for office in Texas.

This bunch of slick, toothy Leftists needs to be defeated at every turn, because their mutual goal is to see if Communism will succeed in the USA after it has failed everywhere else.

To be fair, this is one case where Obama’s “you didn’’t build that”, certainly applies. Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Bart Stupak, Maxine Waters, Sheila Jackson Lee, Charlie Rangel, Barney Frank and countless others have had just as much impact on filthying the dem party as Obama has.

That is because they have been brainwashed by the Marxist moron mill that is America’s public re-education system.

The 10th plank of the communist manifesto calls for free public “education”.

“There are plenty of young guns rising in the Republican party.”

Yes, indeed. In the 2010 election, more than 700 patriots and conservatives were elected to state legislatures. They are capable of taking on and defeating the rats. Wisconsin is one example.

These young guns will be moving on to the US Congress and replacing the weak RINO traitors. That task has already started.

We have a very good farm team of patriots and constitutionalists. I believe that Ryan is one of these. Unlike some people here, I’m optimistic for the future.

I think the question is bigger than 'where are the up and coming Democrat Party stars?'. The real question is where is there an elected Democrat, who is a decent human being?

Elected Democrats are one wing of the party, the con men. The other wing were represented by the delegates, the dupes. Those are your choices, if you want to be a Democrat.
