(Reuters) - President Barack Obama regained some footing and overtook his Republican rival Mitt Romney in a new Reuters/Ipsos poll released on Friday, a day after the end of the Democratic convention.

In what appears to be a convention-induced bounce, Obama jumped ahead in the latest daily tracking poll with 46 percent of 1,434 likely voters saying...

I KNOW that the ability to issue Executive Orders did not include changing Law by the wishes of one person.

That train has already left the station. The GOP cowers under their desks and do not bring up articles of impeachment highlighting the shredding of the Constitution and laws of the land. O knows that since he has gotten away with his illegal EOs this will certainly be his Modus operandi for the second term, saying "What are you going to do about it?"

Not worried in the least. The conventions are meaningless...bumps..no bumps... Nov 6 is still 2 months away and nothing is getting better. This is all on Obama and he can’t make reality disappear to those out of work and paying 4.30 for gas. Romney needs to just keep from any major gaffes and spend that $$$ explaining his vision.

Gov. Christie was on a talk show the other night and he ridiculed Pelosi. When the audience had a mixed response, he immediately blamed both sides. Why? Would Dems do this? They blame Republicans and claim to be victims. Some on the right side are afraid to alienate and even scarier is the knowledge that voters get their info from “entertainers” and their shows.

NO my friend! Have faith and remember the fury that was unleashed by the folk who defeat the Unions and went out in droves to re-elected Walker! That was a HUGE mountain to overcome. Remember we only have one source that never fails...GOD! If we lose God's favor we are doomed, but he SAW the anti-God crowd at DNC rally and His anger was aroused he will NOT be mocked! The evil rats have the power of the prince of the air, BUT we have the GREAT I AM on our side. Pray and fast for this demonic mountain to be removed! We number in the multiple millions praying on our knees for God's good Grace to be upon our candidates. And I know as I testify that He WILL honor those prayers. HAVE FAITH MY FRIEND....do your part and help R&R election chances, if you can send a few bucks or whatever is feasible for you do it. The ARMY of God must fight the good fight, but eventually God will give us the VICTORY through His power...count on that, be reassure of it, and sleep well on God's promise. The Gideon battle is a promise I am holding on to...read the accounts and you'll know what I'm talking about. Gideon had only a 300 brave soldiers at his disposal and out men by an army of THOUSANDS, yes they did fear and thought this was an impossible battle to win, BUT God instructed them to pray and fast and that THROUGH Him, only through Him would this battle be won. My prayer to my AWESOME God is to cause confusion in the enemy's camp that they will eventually destroy each other. The DNC convention gave us a glimpse of their ugliness and division among each other. This is what happened in the battle of Gideon. I stand on that tremendous promise by God daily without fail!

I’m sorry.
The fact that any poll has this venal, characterless, soulless, incompetent,Marxist fraud above 15% means the Republic is finished.
The fact that so many citizens are so gullible, ignorant or willfully shallow to buy into the scam of this tyrannical regime has doomed the country.
The cycle of humans stupidly refusing to learn from history is repeating once more.

“The numbers only moved a little bit but they moved in the direction that suggests that we may be seeing the first inkling of a post-convention bump,” Ipsos pollster Julia Clark said.

Romney in the past few days had held a 1 or 2 percentage point lead in the poll in the wake of the Republican convention last week.

The poll does not reflect sentiment following the Labor Department’s release on Friday of August employment numbers, which showed that jobs growth slowed sharply last month.

Seventy-two percent of 1,670 REGISTERED VOTERS (not likely voters as this article states... PER ROOTERS WEB SITE)surveyed in the poll said the national economy and the federal budget deficit are heading in the wrong direction. Sixty-eight percent of polled voters said the same about the employment and jobs”.

Yep. I am just dumbfounded. If you told me after the 2010 election that Obama would be up by 2-3 points with less than 60 days to go - with the economy in even worse condition (higher gas prices, still over 8% UE, $16 trillion debt) I’d have laughed at you.

The Tea Party won on ideology - framing Obama as a radical leftist. The GOPe and Romney are running on incompetence, i.e. “He’s a nice guy in over his head.”

But here we are... Not saying Romney will lose, but he basically has to string together a royal flush now to win it (essentially take every swing state up for grabs). It’s way riskier than it ever needed to be.

Romney let himself get badly defined all summer (with he excuse that he would carpet bomb in the fall). Well the ads that went out yesterday are weak sauce. Very generic. Not hard hitting whatsoever.

If you look at my history I’ve always predicted Romney would take it in a landslide. Not anymore.

There are too many people who see their vote for Obama as being part of History and are very reluctant to admit it was a mistake. Many of these could and did vote for GOP candidates in 2010 but actually voting against Obama is something most will not do. The fact that Romney’s campaign so far has not provided a compelling reason to vote FOR Romney adds to this voter dilemma. I suspect that unless there is additional egregious economic news that Romney will lose a close election. And given Rass’ comments today, i suspect that if Romney follows the path many here and other sites advise, go very negative on Obama, he will lose decisively. Given the psyche of many less partisan voters, i think they will stick with Obama for reasons of self esteem. Attacking him will IMO solidify that feeling. And yes it’s all about feeling. Rationality will play very little in this election. If it did, Romney would be measuring the drapes as we speak.

Carter was leading Reagan as well this time in 1980.

The Democrats have had their high mark, it is all downhill from here.

Thank you my FRiend. I have been praying every morning and every night. The thought of an Obama win scares the crap out of me like nothing else ever has. If he wins, it’s over. America will cease to exist. Obamacare is law. And at min $22 trillion in debt by the end of 2016.

The score is between likely voters who have a leaning. The battle is so lackluster that a big chunk of potential voters still say it they are undecided. The convention with its untrammeled B.S. fest energized a few fringe Democrats who were sitting this one out. And big deal. There’s only one of those.

“But the realty is, with less than 60 days to go, Obama is now the favorite.”

We need to calm down and look at this realistically. Obama got a small bump, polling taken before the Friday jobs report.

This bump will fade with time as people deal with the realities and facts of the economy.

Romney has just started his ad campaign in the key swing states.

The debates haven’t even happened yet. These will be huge in swinging the 2%-3% needed to win the election, (no teleprompters allowed).

Romney may be utilizing money and resources on a GOTV campaign, which is the heart and soul of a campaign.

The battle has just begun, we have had skirmishes so far.

Its still early in the campaign, we need to let the game plans play out before we can draw concrete conclusions.

I don’t think you have to personally attack to run on ideology. This country considers itself 40% conservative and only 20% liberal. And on economic matters, 46% consider themselves fiscal conservatives, and less than 20% fiscal liberals. It’s a center-right country being governed by a hard leftist.

Not one person in prime time called Obama a liberal at the RNC. Some never even mentioned his name. No ads call Obama a liberal Etc.

They can drive home that he is out of the mainstream of American society, i.e. hard leftist without “attacking” him. IMO.

He couldn’t spend money until after the Rep convention.

He couldn’t spend money until after the Rep convention.

He couldn't spend from the General Election fund. He could utilize PACs and his own money but chose not to. The guy spent $50 million of his own money in 2008.

Listen I don't think it's over. But the fall battle will be much harder (and riskier) than it ever needed to be. God help us.

I wonder how many of those comments were made by obama operatives? Virtually every news site I vist, the comments are almost all anti-zero with a few obivious planted pro-zero and those comments are attacked relentlessly.

Romney knows what he is doing. He will get this done - he has spent his whole life getting things done, not chooming and community agitating. You can fret all you want about a modest and normal convention bounce for Obama. Obama had a one sided platform all week and still can’t poll beyond 46 -47 percent that’s weak
