SUNBURY Although state officials estimate that thousands of residents of the Central Susquehanna Valley lack valid identification under the new state Voter ID law, fewer than 60 in three Valley counties have been issued secure identification cards, according to state Department of Transportation spokeswoman Jan McKnight . . .

The free IDs are part of the states push to make sure registered voters are able to cast ballots on the heels of the March voter ID law, McKnight said . . .
Valid identification for voting includes not only valid drivers licenses, but also drivers licenses that have expired within the past 12 months, McKnight said. People with (those) will not qualify for a free ID, she said . . .
While PennDOT estimated that more than 3,700 voters in Northumberland County and more than 700,000 people statewide did not have a PennDOT identification card, the discrepancy in the numbers may be because those individuals had other acceptable forms of identification, or simply chose not to get a valid identification, McKnight said.

We may yet disappoint everyone, but this is one of the factors that may bring PA back into the sanity column on 06 November.

My guess is there are a lot of 0bama voters that don’t want to apply for an officially issued state ID card because it might be discovered that they have some outstanding warrants, haven’t made their child support payments, etc., etc.
All the stuff in my #1 above is from the linked article.
The people who can legally vote have a photo Id. The laws for photo Id are put in place to stop the vote early vote often organized left.
Turnout in Philly will be the usual 120 percent of registered voters.
Thanks for the link
Excellent point ! !
I’d like to see Gov.Corbett mobilize the PA National Guard to ride shotgun on polling places in Philthy and Da’burgh.
It is obvious that these inflated estimates of people who lack a photo ID are wrong. The same held true in Kansas after it passed its tough voter ID bill. This is just more nonsense from the Left. Very few people in this country lack a photo ID.
Ding! Ding! Ding! We have a winner!
Hadn't thought of that. And of course the felon vote is an important Obama voting bloc.
“In other words, even when IDs are FREE, thousands and thousands won’t go to the trouble of getting one “
“Free” doesn’t mean a thing unless the issuer is willing to come directly to the lazy-ass whiners and pay them to take it. Otherwise they can keep complaining that the “inconvenience” somehow infringes on their rights.
What color is the sky in your world?
(preferably with a pizza and a 6pk ;-)
You preferred Rendell in yours ?
Still pimpin’ eh?
Can’t the volunteers bring the machines and whatever is necessary to make the ID cards to events so that people who don’t have an id can get one. Both Republicans and Democrats are in the same boat with regards to elderly especially who lose their driver’s licenses when they can no longer driver. This seems to me to be the best option for everyone.
Why not post the FR link to that article that you posted?

700,000 statewide? Ain’t no way.
There’s a WHOLE lotta smoke being blown...
Here in South Carolina, not only are the IDs free, but our Governor Nikki Haley even set up a toll free 800 number to be called if you don’t have transportation to the DMV. I don’t remember the exact number, but it got very few calls.
Our law is modeled after Indiana’s which has already withstood a Supreme Court case.
And, guess what, Holder and His People still found our law to be lacking.
There is information available, she said. Please find out if you need to come to the center before you make the trip. You may already have what you need to vote.
Hardly surprising, this, seeing that in rural counties one pretty much needs a car, and thus a driver’s license — add to that needing photo ID to cash checks or buy really functional decongestants, and pretty much no one needs an ID specially issued to vote.
The new congress and administration should pass a national “social Security” card issue in which Americans have until 2014 to get a new (and free) updated social security card, with a security strip, and a photo. It would take the same info to get one as it takes to get, or renew, drivers licenses in most states, I.e. birth certificate, proof of address, etc.
Those not meeting age requirements to receive SS, would lose benefits for non-compliance.
Then, in order to vote, you would have to present these cards.
All eligible would comply to keep their benefits coming, those that are not, don’t vote.
It smacks of a “nationali.d. Card”, but would be a viable workaround for voter I.d. And we might catch some illegals in the process. We already have to present drivers licenses or two forms if ID to do most everything else anyway.
Those who are eligible, and honest, shouldn’t have any problem with such.
With the mass invasion of illegals we have, it may be the only way to separate the wheat from the chaff.
Maybe that reflects some knowledgeable guy’s info about how many fraudulent votes there we’re in the last election.
HF
People in Indian who do not have Identification can votes with a probitionary ballot. Personally took an individual the day after the election to get her ID. Then we grocery shopped at a larger store then she normally goes to (better prices) and stopped by the court house to trigger her votes.
AND she was a liberal democrat.
There are many who will help if it is truly needed.
UH Indiana
BINGO
People are not going to get multiple identifications.
If Bambi is behind prior to the election, we will need the Guard.
The rest are waiting for the beer and smokes filled limo filled to drive them there.
When dems do voter fraud they vote the people who don't show up to vote. The dead accidentally get caught up in that vote because they NEVER show up to vote.
When the FBI chooses to stop voter fraud they can add fake names to the roles - in inner cities in swing states - and other radom polling places. All they have to do then is check how many of the fake 'voters' voted.
Maybe O'Keefe could set up surveillance cameras outside likly polling fraud centers and count the number of people who vote compared to official tallies.

County totals for those cards were not available.
A veritable stampede of the 'disenfranchised' for those free cards, huh ? !
Did you mean provisional ballot?
Typically provisional ballots only come into play during an extremely close race. And they can usually be challenged.
My major reservations with your suggestion are that, given the gooberment we're saddled with, the bill would come in at 5x projections and be a massive national CF.
You think the faux uproar from the vote fraudsters (aka Dhimms) is bad now, float the idea to revamp the entire thing, making it completely waterproof !
I hear a monthly ad on the radio from a rural county that is saying the commodity give away is upcoming and a photo ID will be required to recieve the cheese and stuff. I guess those ‘poor’ folk don’t have a problem. The same county will NOT provide translaters if one is needed.
I think it has been like that for years now.
Maybe we do ours differently. Granted they do come in play in an extremely close race, but so that no vote is eliminated the vote is counted if proper documentation is presented within ten days. Maybe that's why the SCOTUS smiled on Indiana.
They are kept in the clerk's office. Each in its own separate envelope. When the voter returns with proper identification, it is opened, counted and added to the final tally.
Its a fake issue to start with
Similar to my first thought. No one is applying because no one NEEDS one - anyone reasonably functioning in society already has one.
We are allowed to cite one link if it’s relevant.
2,000 ID cards going to the same address, (some Union office), will nudge even the Penn DOT that something might be fishy.
In Chicago, tho, that would be SOP...
Won't cure it, but it might be juuuust enough.
funny how the elft said that there were so many without photo ID’s and like my wife said.”if they cannot be bothered getting an ID then why would the left think they could be bothered voting”
LOL
did the GOP ever look into that and of so what happened please?
Think of as equivalent to affirmative action among political parties.
To my knowledge, no other challenges are either in process or forthcoming.
I did a cursory search for voter ID lawsuits in 2012 and found cases in TX, NC, SC, WI, TN, OK, MN, OH, AZ, KS, & VA without even trying. It doesn't mean they're all active, but it does mean that it isn't over.
